Question Vehicle Service Manuals...

Over the years I have always bought the vehicle "dealer" service manuals for my vehicles. A couple of reasons for this, 1st...I can see if the repair is something that I'm comfortable preforming, 2nd...it helps me understand my vehicle somewhat better, 3rd...if I do have to return to the dealer for service, I have a slight understanding of what is going on and what to expect. With this being said, I have been watching Helm.com for the publications availability. As of today, Helm has a "Honda Interface Module (HIM) Refurbished Unit (whatever that means) on sale. Damn, what a surprise...cost $553.00. Think this is rather crazy and way out of line for cost. Wondering if anyone could explain what unit is? Thanks for any help provided!!!

Not sure what that is but the Service Manual should be about $70. Been watching Helminc.com too and they have not listed it so far. At the back of the owners manual they do list the part # for the service manual and say to order it from helm, guess we have to wait a bit more.

The Honda Interface Module is a hand-held device that allows you to update the ECM/PCM on all Honda and Acura vehicles that have reprogrammable chips. It connects to any Windows 95 or later PC.

New unit cost is $944.
Refurbished unit cost is $790. (Units are tested to ensure performance standards are met; units and cables may have minor scratches and nicks, but operation will not be affected.)
