inside bedside panel removal?

Has anyone attempted to remove the bedside panel? I have 3 dents on the rear passenger fender that I need to get to and think I can get to them from behind the bed panel. It seems you need to take off the panel on top of the bed rail and also the bed panel on the back of the cab before you can take off the bed side panel.
Any info is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Not to sound snippy here, but there is a service manual folks can buy.

It's very worthwhile.

You're not being snippy...you figure a lot of the members here have spent a lot on their RLs yet they can't part with $100 for a manual that will save them a lot of grief and possibly more costly screw-ups. Go figure...just buy the manual.

It should literally take you under 10 minutes to remove the bedside panel. Yes, you do need to remove the back panel and the tie-downs. You will need both Torx T40 (for the panels) and Torx T50 (for the tie-downs). I would recommend not using a cordless drill to do this but rather a ratchet. My T40 bits got chewed up using my cordless drill. I believe you will have to remove the tie-downs on both sides of the truck behind the cab to remove the back-panel. It's really easy. If I remember there is a lot of room where you can push out a dent.

Re: inside bedside panel removal?

Important tip for removing the plastic rail guards on top: First pop out the small oval piece of plastic on rear of the rail cap using a tiny flat head scewdriver. Then remove the set screw you find underneath. Then slide the rail cap backwards about 1 inch until you can feel the tabs that are holding it to top of metal part of rail disengage. Then you can lift the plastic cap off safely without ripping off a tab (wish I had someone to give me this tip last month).

Re: inside bedside panel removal?

I have the manual, but would much rather get the info from those pdf files that Honda has for installing accessories. Most of what I've done was through the help of those files. They are much more friendly. Don't get me wrong, the Helms manual is like the bible and is chock full of info. I just like the setup of the pdf files.

Just go to Hand A's site and download the backup sensor pdf. Start from step 28 and finish with 34.

There's a link to Hand-A's website in the Accessories heading in the Forums screen.

Mine was a philips screw. Another difference between a Canadian model and a USDM model?
