Torx size

What size torx driver/wrench do you need to remove the bolts that hold the bed panels in place? T50?

Re: Torx size

Yes, but I think you need another size to take out the tie down cleats. I believe it is T-45.......... not 100% sure. Get a set of them. Cheaper in the long run. Tools last forever and come in handy in the weirdest of times.

Re: Torx size

T-50 for the majority of the bolts in the bed, T-40 for the tie-downs.

Re: Torx size

I have a T45, T47, T50 and T55 Torx driver. I just went out and checked. The tie downs are T50 for sure. I did not have a T40 and did not check any others.

Re: Torx size

Watch out for the rear attachments. They use an allen wrench! Almost stripped one trying to use a Torx.

Hi Mark,
Sorry I spotted the thread so late...
I just shot over to the 380 auction barn yesterday (Rt. 380 - you gotta know where this place is!) for a set of 12 Impact Star Sockets 'cause I'm tired of transporting the ones I had back 'n' forth from work.

You might already have a set, but these would make a great "back-up set".

$6.99 ! for a combined 1/4" & 3/8" drive set:
6pc. 1/4" dr. :10,15,20,25,27,30
6pc. 3/8" dr. : 40,45,47,50,55,60
1pc. 3/8" dr.(F) X 1/4" dr.(M) adaptor
2pc. socket holders
(*no ratchet-wrenches included)

They're drop forged - heat treated - black oxide finish...
"Cal-Hawk Brand" typical el-cheapo tools. (but I was surprised at the quality of this set.) Don't know about the durability, I wouldn't trust them with an impact driver, but they'll be a perfect set for using around the house... don't need my bulky 1/2" drive ones.
** There were 4 or five other sets there, too, but they didn't have the range of sizes or were really crappy-looking, so I got these ones. look around.

The bed panel bolts in my RL are 40's...
The cleats are 50's... just checked today 'cause I got some D-rings off eBay for the bed and was curious about it.

Watcha plannin' on doin'?

Brent? "rear attachments"?

Re: Torx size

The rear attachment that the bed extender mounts in. It has allen not torq heads. I pulled all my bed panels and headed for the hardware store to buy a torq that would fit but was suspicious because we had a full set of torq's so I tried an allen first.
