What is this?

Can anyone tell me what this is and how it should be attached under the dash? It is hanging right over the gas pedal.

Any help is appreciated.

Re: What is this?

Well, I am having issues with posting the picture....so I will try to describe it.

It is a small metal box, about 2 1/2 inches square with a L bracket attached to it. It has wires coming out the back of it....and it says MITSUBA on it with a bunch of letters and numbers on it.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Re: What is this?

Have you had a trailer hitch and harness installed on your truck recently? It sounds like it might be the under dash control unit for the hich wiring. See steps 5-11 of the attached hitch install instructions from H&A.

Hitch Install Instructions

I did this install on mine a month or so ago, and it was a "b*tch" to get the screw in place that secured this unit.

Let us know what you find. If that's not it, I'll keep looking.

Re: What is this?

Thnaks Jbarco....that is it.

I did have an aftermarket hitch installed, and they did have to use some OEM parts.

I have tried to attach the screw myself based upon the install instructions that you provided, and I cannot get the screw in there myself.

Any other suggestions?

Re: What is this?

Yeah, I remember that screw was a real "pain in the @ss" to get started.

On an interim basis, can you wire-tie it to something up in the general area and at least keep it from dropping down by your feet?

Re: What is this?

I actually used a zip tie to secure it for now. Hopefully it will last for awhile.

Thanks for your help.

Re: What is this?

Just when you think your back is broke and you have to call your wife to help you get your contorted body from under the dash ,you will then be in position to easily install the screws for the hitch module.
Or you could wimp out and zip tie it.

rtbag 1961.......I am not sure if you were trying to suggest something or not. Anyway the "wimp out" way worked.

Thanks for your help.
