A few dings, scrapes and bent running board fins from our offroad adventures

Here are some photos of the fin brackets for the running boards. I hadn't really thought about them until OneBigDog posted about his getting bent. Yup, ours too. The first photo is how they should look. Only the front set on each side has been bent, worse on the driver's side.

I don't know if you can just replace the brackets if they eventually break. Neither of us is really bothered by any of our battle scars thus far.

Surprisingly, the plastic splash guard right under the bumper is holding up pretty well. We only have one ding in it and it looks like it happened whenever we made the biggest dent right behind it.

There are only two more noticeable boo boos. One is on our bull bar. The other isn't bad but I'm sure it's one of the times it sounded awful. There's a small scrape on the differential, but it wouldn't even show up in a photo.

All in all, not bad for two long summers of playing in the mountains and backroads.

I'm still of the mind that the scrapes on the running boards and bull bar are good early warning systems for us to consider if we should continue on our path or turn around.

We've bottomed out on some big rocks here and there. Some we navigated through just fine on the way up but got smacked on the way down because of the change in angle or the approach.

Not bad for the roads we've been on. Badges of honor, actually. We're cautious and there have been many roads we've turned around on because we really don't aim to just beat the truck up. You have seen some of the photos I've been able to take because of our backroad adventures, haven't you? A couple of dings and thousands of great photos. Well worth it in my opinion.

To start an new thread you have to go back to that page called "Honda Ridgeline Owners Club Forums" that you see listed at the top of every page in the list that's underlined with > separating each level of the sub categories. Just click on that first one and it will take you to the main forum category page.

After that, select the topic heading that best describes what you want to add. Click on that category. In addition to the list of all the threads already going in that category, you'll find a button on the top left that says "Start Thread." That's the magic button and on those subcategory pages is the only place you'll find it.

It's a devious plot to make us think about the most logical place to post our comments.

Re: A few dings, scrapes and bent running board fins from our offroad adventures

Thanks,

I felt like an idiot for not being able to remember how! Maybe you know this already. The local car wash allowed a "prewash" to dry on my windshield. Now when I drive in the rain at niight, I get a terrible glare from the oncomming headlights. I can see the pattern from the where the pre-wash dried on the windshield. How can I fix this?

I just posted in your new thread. Congrats, you did it.

Oops, too much of a good thing. Go ahead and delete your second thread. There's no need to have that duplication. You'll get plenty of answers on one.

Once again we are rewarded with Pam's Photo Excellence....

Just love to see the Scenery instead of the boo boo's....

For a bit of comfort Gary said the transfer casings and such under should be able to take some minor poundings and keep on ticking.... Like you said judgement is the best valor to go on or turn around.
