Black Star Canyon Adventure

Last Saturday I went with some friends on a drive through Black Star Canyon. They invited me thinking my RL wouldn't be tough enough. One guy had a chevy 1500 and the other guy had a Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Jeep popped his second tire, (the first one blew on this same route the previous weekend). The chevy had no problems. My RL preformed beautifully. It was awsome coming off a rocky dirt path and transfer to the freeway without the rough ride of a typical truck. The guy with the jeep told me he had to drive the road a little more cautiously than I did because his car couldn't handle the road at the speed I was going. I wouldn't have had any clearance issues without the spacer lift but might have struggled witout larger off-road tires. The Nittos were great! The VSA kicked on a couple times so I turned it off to prevent losing power. It was so much fun I thought the local Southern California RL owners would like to get together and drive it with me. Without any problems the drive would take about 3 to 4 hours. We met at 10:30 am at a gas station in the city of Orange off the 55 freeway and went east from there. We came off the trail near Lincoln and the 91 freeway in Corona. I want to go again with anyone who would like to go. Use your RL at your own risk. I was thinking we could go Saturday April 21st, before the summer heat. Who's with me? PM me with any questions. I'll post pictures later today.

Re: Black Star Canyon Adventure

Heres some info on the trails on Saddleback Mnt/Cleveland National Forest.
http://www.4x4xplor.com/maindivideroad.html

The Main Divide Road is a fun local day trip if you are in or around the OC,you can access the trails from Corona, the OC(BSC) and Ortega Hwy. You can even drive all the way from Black Star Canyon to Fallbrook in the dirt just crossing black top for a few yards

Dont forget you can always stop by the Ranger Station at the top of Ortega Hwy(Hwy 74) and they will give you free maps and such..

Just and FYI that entire area requires a Forest Adventure Pass if you are going to PARK your truck/motorcycle(must be a street licensed vehicle to use the trails) and go hike around---- http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/sanbernardino/ap/

You can get the passes at a lot of places----- http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/sanbernardino/ap/vendors.php

Not trying to Hi-Jack this guys thread but theres also a OHV area on the south side of Ortega Hwy(Hwy 74) called Wildomar, kinda cool spot..

Man you can tell I'm bored...LOL I wish it would stop snowing!!!!!!
