Fourth Annual Sedona Meet - Sedona and Grand Canyon! April 12-13, 2008

The holidays are behind us and now it's time to start talking about the meets and greets.

This year, I will be hosting the Fourth Annual Sedona Meet! The theme is 'ROC goes to Sedona and Grand Canyon'. This two day event will take us to a couple of the most scenic areas in the United States.

Sedona was ranked #1 by USA Weekend as the Top 10 Places in the United States (link to article) in 2003.

And we all know that the Grand Canyon is considered one of the most popular Natural Wonders of the World! So, this could quite be the most scenic weekend in ROC history! Do you want to be a part of it?

On Saturday, April 12, 2008 we will meet in Sedona and spend the day there. The following moring, we will venture north to the Grand Canyon!

So mark your calendars, make your hotel/camping reservations early and pack your bags! Oh, and don't forget the cameras! This is a peak season for Sedona so don't hesitate to book now!

Saturday's itinerary will be something like:

10:00 a.m. - meet (location in Sedona to be announced)
11:30 a.m. - lunch
1:00 p.m. - local off roading, possibly coupled with free VIN etching by the
Sedona PD (depending on equipment availability)
6:00 p.m. - dinner

Sunday's itinerary might be something like:

6:00 a.m. - Breakfast (for the early birds)
7:15 a.m. - Driving up to Grand Canyon!
10:00 a.m. - Arrive and explore GC!
5:00 p.m. or so. - head on out, possibly to Flagstaff for dinner.

I am sure we will have a pre-meet dinner on Friday as we have the past few years.

As we get closer to the meet we will discuss things like T-shirts, etc.

Grand Canyon National Park

Red Rock Country- has lots of information, including camping. Chavez Crossing Campground can be done by a group, very reasonably priced. And, its actually inside the Sedona City Limits!

Lolomai Springs Camping - 10 minutes outside Sedona, allows tent camping as well as cabin rentals.

Here's where we're staying for the third year. I highly recommend it.

Arizona's Sky Ranch Lodge :: Sedona's Oasis in the Sky :: Sedona AZ

It's on top of the mesa by the airport. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, quiet, and most important to us: dog friendly.

It fills up fast. Get your reservations early no matter where you want to stay in Sedona.

Well, right now it looks like I may be in for Saturday or Sunday... it all depends on the wife's schedule, but I doubt that I would be able to make both days.

Ya never know, but by the time I find out, I would have to stay with friends in the Prescott area, because it would be too late to book a room.

This should be fun though!

We're booked at the Sky Ranch Lodge with Truckin' and Big Guy. We arrive Friday evening and go home Monday AM. It will be good to see all our Southwest buddies again.

We’ll be pulling in on Friday around lunch time and camping till Wednesday and then heading for home. We’ve got plans to do the Sky Walk and are considering the Canyon River Adventure Tour as well.
