Ridge Run / Hog Hunt

If anyone is interested in joining MikeT, shortspark and I on a Ridgeline Run and hog hunt on Saturday January 26th, I can accommodate a couple others. We will leave the metroplex in the morning and return late that evening. We will go to the west side of Possum Kingdom Lake which is about a 2 hour drive and have lunch at my camp and an evening hog hunt (box stands overlooking feeders) I have a couple spots available. I can't promise a thing other than some beautiful country and fine companionship. Besides hogs, you are welcome to take any Coyotes, Bobcats, Foxes or Raccoons seen.
Getting into camp requires some minor offroading, nothing too serious. Of course, if you want to be adventurous, I can take you on trails with some serious "pucker power".
If you have questions or are interested in joining us, PM me for more details.
PS - There is no cost for the hunt.

Oh, and.... a lawnmower, a trimmer and 2 generators...all by Honda and if Honda made a chainsaw, I dang sure would buy one.

Outfitter,

Thanks for the great time this weekend. Next time I line up a hog, I will be sure to get a side on head shot instead of a head on head shot. I still can not get over how a hog can get up after being hit in the forehead with 175 grains of bullet going close the 2750fps at 80 yards! Next time I will take the 45/70 and the Buffalo Bore 350 grain hollow point at 2100fps (And the side on head shot) Thank you again!!!

ps Sorry for kiddin' ya about streamlight. They make a great product... But as we all know real men carry Surefire

Re: Ridge Run / Hog Hunt

My thanks too Outfitter, for the usual great time Mike, I and the others had. You are always a wonderful host (remember, next time I'll bring the food and you relax). I did not see a hog this trip but next time for sure - and I'll hit them too! You see, while sitting in the stand yesterday I was thinking how I could max out my effort. After brainstorming this thing for a few hours while sitting there, I concluded I could best do this by bringing my 12ga. pump and loading up with 00 buckshot. When I see them coming in to feed, I would sneak out of the stand, make my stalk through the tall grass (you know, like a tiger or lion or something). When I got within 20 yards of them I would just pop up and shoot into the group, pumping all six rounds into them as fast as I could. I'm sure that would work! Maybe even Mike and I could work this together as he could sneak in from one side and I from the other. Whatcha think of that plan man?!?!

Re: Ridge Run / Hog Hunt

Marty, I think you guys would either shoot each other or get run over as the hogs tried to get away from the "wild and crazy guys".
I enjoyed having you both out again, just wished we could have been more productive. We will do it again soon and I'll take you up on planning the chow.

The guy with the Streamlights uses a .223 and drops them in their tracks. The Surefire guy wants to go up from a .308 to a 45/70. Must be a correlation here somewhere.
Enjoyed having you Mike, you and Shortspark just got to get over the "warning shots".
Now, go watch the movie "Sniper" and tell me what you learn.
