New 20" wheels having a balance problem.

I just put my 20's on my ridge and then the sensors and all that fun stuff so after I was done I needed to get them balanced. First I got them balanced at a local shop, old fashioned type place. At around 65-75 I got a pretty decent wobble. So then I get the "Road Force Balanced" at a high tech place. Now there is still a slight wobble at 75-80. Is this to be expected with aftermarket wheels or am I missing something.

Anyone got any ideas of what it could be, because it makes me drive like grandma because I am so aggrevated.

I've had a similar problem. Did you get hub centric rings with your rims to make sure they are centered on the hub?

Re: New 20" wheels having a balance problem.

OMG! I thought I was the only one w/ this problem.
I have had the hub centering rings put on, road force balanced, replaced the tires, and even an alignment and it still get a slight high speed shake in the steering wheel.
They tell me this is the only R/L they ever had this kind of problem with.
I'm about ready to go and insist on a refund.
What gives.

The Ridgline is rejecting them. It doesn't want to be a "RiceRidge"

Red face Re: New 20" wheels having a balance problem.

wow, this is really funny and annoying at the same time. i have the same exact problem last week when i received my 22's and put them on, BINGO, about 75 mph, i have a slight shimmy on the steering wheel. had them rotated, same thing. had them balance, same thing. i called the online place where i got them, and they would take it back and had them checked for any issues. i actually have to have them packed tomorrow to get them shipped. this is really weird since all of my cars, i have always, ALWAYS, upgrade to bling bling big wheels. subaru sti, mitsu evo 8, toyota celica, honda civic, toyota sequioa, all of which have from 18's to 20's. and my ridgeline does NOT want the 22's. i thought it was just mine. now i feel better that others have problems too. but, i'll post next time and see what they have to say after my set comes back....hold on........

Re: New 20" wheels having a balance problem.

I've been thru the same as the rest of you. Multiple road force balance and alignments. I even tried Dyna Beads. Since the shimmy comes and goes, I'm just going to live with it. I have thought about swapping out the tires for a different brand however. I've got Hankook 275/45r20. It would be great to find a solution to this.
