Re: Swapping out Steel Wheels on RT need some advise

There might be different stems, but the sensors should be the same.

There is nothing to reset. They reset themselves. I just checked Majestic Honda's website. There is only one part number for TPMS for either wheel. I could have sworn there were 2.

BTW - Did anyone notice that they are selling the OEM tires for $124? That is the cheapest I have seen.

Re: Swapping out Steel Wheels on RT need some advise

I swapped from Steel to Acura RL Alloy rims (which are close to the RL Alloys). You can use the original sensors, but need different stems (I was lucky that the Acura wheels had stems already on them). The sensors have a little screw that will take them off and you can put them on the new stems (took a little finesse, but worked fine). The lug nuts are different (keep the old ones for your spare), and you will need new ones (can get them off e-bay). Just a note, wheel locks are different as well (my dealer had put the wrong ones on to start, so I could use them on the Alloy wheels). My buddy did the swap at his shop, so I was there helping and saw the whole process, so what I am telling you is the truth.

Makes sense that the sensors are the same & you only have to change out the stem. Those engineers thought of everything! Well almost everything, where are those auto headlights?

So you drive around all night with no headlights?

How did we get from swapping wheels to headlights? Oh yea, that was my fault. Sorry.

You will need to change the lugs. The steel lugs are shorter than the alloy lugs. The TPMS sensors will work with longer valve stems. I went through this last year. I was charged $15 per wheel to transfer and balance the new wheels. The locks are different for alloy wheeels also they have different part numbers.
