BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain KM2

I was thinking about getting the BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain KM2 (245/70r17) on my ridgeline. I was reading up on the forum. Some guy said his brother has them on his dodge and said that they are horrible in the snow. I go snowboarding a lot. I like the aggressive look of the tire but will it perform okay in snow since I have 4wd?

Mud tires are usually not a good choice for snow conditions. Most mud tires have a harder tread construction that will typically get harder to colder it gets. This limits their ability to conform to the road surface. Snow tires on the other hand are constructed of softer tread material that stays soft in colder temps allowing the tires to flex and conform to the road surface. Tread type plays role here as well. I would suggest a good all season radial tire (Like the OEM tires) or dedicated snow tires.

Re: BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain KM2

The BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain tires basically states what it is...mud tires. Maybe look into some all-terrain tires which has the aggressive look your probably looking for. Checkout www.discounttiredirect.com and look at the all terrain Cooper tires (Cooper Zion LTZ). You will not find these tires on the Cooper Tires website. These tires are only available thru Discount Tires.

Fairly inexpensive compared to the BFGoodrich tires and got a better review.
If you give me a couple of days I will take a picture of my RL which was currently a street cruiser but is now has been winterized with 20in flat black rims and some all-terrain Cooper Zion LTZ tires.

very nice looking tire. I didn't know they made all terrain tires for rims larger than 18. I wouldn't mind having them on my 20s, but just the shipping to Hawaii calculates at over $400 from them! I don't know anyone locally that carries Cooper tires here in Hawaii. Guess I'll keep my stock 17s with all terrains on the side and swap them out every now and then.

Re: BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain KM2

Don't know if this helps or not-but when we had our Element, I put BFG All Terrain KO's in the stock size and those tires ROCKED for snow traction, but were noisier than the stock pieces of crap Goodyears .

The Michelin LTX's on the Ridge work really well in adverse conditions.
