Re: Which one would you buy and why?

I've used tirerack and bought some yokohama tires for my Accord before, exactly what the rating said...Loved the tires. That's part of the reason why I am asking other for their opinions on the tires too because I can't be certain with just one companies opinion.

I'll never deal with Tire Rack again!

never heard of them, so you order through them, and get them shipped to you, or someone to put them on?

The price they list for the Michelins were what I payed at my local Costco.

They will ship to your local participating tire shop and they will install. I don't remember for sure, but I think you pay for mounting and all on their site.

Re: Which one would you buy and why?

yeah, they offered that last year when I ordered. They also shipped my winter tires on steel rims and pre-balanced.

Great price...and as for costco, there isn't one around me.

BTW- tires and ice do not mix unless they are studded. Thinking or marketing a tire that gets a grip on ice is misleading. There has to be a mix of something in those conditions to get grip, snow, cinder, studs, chains. Don't be led to believe that a tire will get grip on ice alone.

I haven't posted pics yet. I was waiting for a dramatic backdrop..but then i left the damn camera at home. The Nokian Vatiiva had a little highway drone, but nothing really noticable. I will have to wait for snow to melt from the mountains before I get to test the grip.

Re: Which one would you buy and why?

have to ask though which one I would kinda like to upsize my tire to give it a little better clearence, but not sure if it will mess with the other saftey features. not to concerened about odometer readings being off anymore as they are already off. Reason looking into replacing though is that the tires are showing signs of dry rotting. this is a daily driver so should not be happenning. Any ideas or suggesstions. thought about 275/65-17.

Re: Which one would you buy and why?

I had the OEM Firestones replaced with Michelin Cross Terrain tires on my '01 Ranger during the big Ford/Firestone recall of 2001. Even though they aren't light truck tires I thought they were great and still have them on the Ranger some 7 years and 95,000km (60,000mi) later. They were built for SUVs but for the most part I use my truck as a car (as most of us do), even though it's a 4x4. They offer excellent grip in all conditions and are very quiet. They are due for replacement soon, but they have been serving me very well up till now and I would consider buying them again. BTW, we have had over seven feet of snowfall here this winter and even though these tires are almost down to the wear bars, I can still go through anything in 4WD.
