Need Help!

I have aftermarket wheels and tires with no sensors... understood that the tpms light would be coming on and staying on and have lived with it. Recently the flat tire light came on...? When I start the vehicle the flat tire light comes on and stays on until I drive for a while then comes off and the tpms light comes on and stays on. I have checked, all is ok. And again I have No sensors. I disconnected the battery for about half day and did not clear this issue...Help and suggestions needed.

Re: Need Help!

Having no sensors is not a good idea. If the warning lights are on, it may affect the 4WD engagement. Check with the dealer.

Re: Need Help!

First off, disconnecting the battery will not clear the DTC trouble codes as they can only be retrieved and erased via the HDS-Honda Diagnostic Tester.

Taken from the HSM-Honda Service Manual (This of course taken into consideration that your wheels are all fitted with TPMS sensors);

1) If a low tire pressure is detected, the low pressure indicator (flat tire icon) and the appropriate tire indicator (Bar next to wheel) illuminate

2) If a problem in the TPMS system is detected, the "TPMS" icon illuminates

3) If both low tire pressure and a problem in the system are detected simultaneously, only the "TPMS" icon will illuminate

If the system is OK, all the indicators should illuminate briefly when turning on the ignition and then extinguish 2 seconds later. If they don't, there is a problem with the system.

Re: Need Help!

If you have no sensors installed - then the TPMS system is rendered defunct. Trying to figure out why or when the lights come on is useless. You know what the problem is, man up and spend the money for sensors.

Re: Need Help!

Simple, no signal means problem, thus sensor light. Take the ram out of your computer, what happens, error message
There is an eBay auction going on for all 4 sensors for 99 bucks. From the dealer I think they're $75 each. Can I ask what happened to your stock sensors? They can reused you know. Pulled mine off of my stock wheels and used them on my Acura wheels, no problems to date.

Now is it rendered defunct or will the VSA still default to on unless you pull the fuse?

Re: Need Help!

The light will continue to stay ON until you puss the fuse. But not sure, by pulling the fuse if the truck will operate normally at highway speeds. I know the guys pulling the fuse are only running low speeds in sand and dirt.
