Two kinds of Michelin LTX M/S?

I went to TireRack.com to browse for new tires: and there are two LTX M/S tires that appear almost the same

The "SR" rated one is $229 on "closeout" while the "TR" rated one is $167.

What's up with this? Why shouldn't I get the "TR" rated tires?

Good question. Normally I would warn you about one or the other having a load range C but that doesn't appear to be the case here. The more expensive tire looks a bit softer and has a lower speed rating, and is on closeout. Looks like the cheaper tire is a newer model. Call them and ask.

The OEM Michelin 245x65x17 105S, S = Speed rating, Load Rating = 105, tire has been discontinued. It has beed replaced by the 245x65x17 T105, T speed rating with the same 105 load rating. The maximum load rating hasn't changed. It appears the the link provided is incorrect on the maximum tire pressure.

Speed Rating:
S Up to 112mph
T Up to 118mph

Load Rating:
105 = 2039lbs max load.

So I guess the '09s will have the newer version of the tire and Honda will bump the speed limiter up a bit, huh?

Riiight.
