Experience with different tire sizes??

Sorry - I hate to be redundant, but there is an overwhelming amount of verified & un-verified info in this section...
I'm trying to determine what the best tire size is that I can fit on the stock wheels with no lift kit. I don't mind minor trimming to the mud guard, but I don't want to do more modification than that. Wider would be good, and maybe a little bit taller... or maybe not. I mostly just want to get a more aggressive offroad look/performance, within reason.

So... 245/70, 245/75, 255/65, 265/65, 275/60 ???
Can anyone give me some definite input on these sizes? (preferably based on experience).

Also, any idea how willing tire dealers are to buy my stock michelins off me? They have less than 2000 mi.

Re: Experience with different tire sizes??

275/60-17 will fit on stock rims, with no rubbing. I have had both the Goodyear Fortera Tripletred and now the Yokohama A/T-S in that size. I thought about a 265/65-17, which makes the diameter 30.5 vs 29.7 for OEM tire, but thought that would throw off the speedo too much. 275/60-17 is 30.0 in diameter, so pretty close to OEM, but it is 11.1 inches wide vs 9.7 for OEM, so it gives the truck a wider stance in the wheel well. I got my tire guy here in NC to take my stock tires in trade, and they gave me $80.00/per tire credit.

Re: Experience with different tire sizes??

I have 265/60-18s and they are the same diameter as a 265/65-17 (30.5). I am only about 3.5% off on my speedometer according to my GPS. They fit great. I have a lift but I think folks have installed that size with no lift.
