I asked the service department at my Honda dealership about upgrading the tires to a slightly larger size. He said there is a spec, but I should purchase them there because they have the correct tread pattern for the RL.

He recommends Michelins. I've had much better luck with Good Year than Michelin, so I would pick Good Year. He says they have the correct tread pattern in Good Year too, but would have to order them.

Anyone know any details about this?
Don't understand quite what he means by "correct tread pattern" but I can tell you that the OEM Michelins are great tires as they hold the road well, are quiet, and last a very long time. The OEM tires lasted me ~40000 miles and started with 9/32" and when replaced had 6/32". Not bad considering they had been offroad / onroad / max loaded numerous times. Goodyear makes a great product, but the OEM Michelin LTX M/S 245/65/17 105S tires were designed specifically for the Ridgeline.

true. I remember Gary Flint (Ridgeline chief designer (or similar title)) telling a handful of us something about that at last year's National Meet. .....old age and all is blocking my total recall (great movie too! )

What is he smoking...you have the right size and pretty close to OE tires, you should be fine. It all depends to what you want, but if you go over the specs, there might be some sort of rubbing if you decide to go bigger or wider.
