Alignment Issues

I just had the truck aligned after doing my tires. It still wants to pull to the left after the alignment shop claims it was right on the numbers. Anyone have any issues doing an alignment? They said it could also be the tires?? Any thoughts...

Re: Alignment Issues

You might try a search. I believe someone posted a service bulletin some time ago which showed the technician how to diagnose and solve this problem. Let us know how it goes.

Re: Alignment Issues

I had a pulling problem to the right that alignment would not cure. On the numbers, but it still pulled bad on crowned roads, especially with 2 aboard.

Solution: cross rotate the tires-right rear to left front, left rear to right front. Seems these Michelins occasionally exhibit this trait.

Has been perfect since my last service--put 2200 non drifting miles on it. Give it a try.

Cross rotating worked for me as well.

Re: Alignment Issues

My alignment shop told me that these trucks have no camber adjustment so they cannot do an offset to counteract the crown of the road. The steeper the crown, the more you will pull. This was especially bad for me when I had the Goodyear Wrangler SAs. When I would drive on rural stretches of interstate highways it would pull hard to the right. The new Cooper Zeons I replaced them with seem to ride straighter.

Re: Alignment Issues

I had the same problem with a '96 Accord I had a few years ago. I had put Kelley tires on it, and I could never get the car to quit pulling to the right. I finally switched back to the original-type Michelins that came on the car, and problem solved. But it looks like your problem might be fixed by the cross rotation folks have recommended. Good luck!

I remember that article. It had the most riducluous alignment diagnosis procedure I have ever heard. Csimo originally posted it about a year ago.

Re: Alignment Issues

We've experienced pulling issues on two Accords & an Odyssey. The solution in all three cases was to switch from Michelins to Toyo tires. Alignment never helped... We never tried cross rotation, though.

Re: Alignment Issues

Alignment on newer cars and trucks - that have only a toe adjustment... very rarely fixes a pull or drift. 90% of pulling and drifting problems are caused by tires or road crown. In the "old days" cars had adjustable camber, caster and toe as well as rear camber and toe.... (the S2000 is like this) and you could dial in the alignment perfectly. Even adding weight to the driver's seat while aligning it to compensate for the camber change the driver's weight added. Now though, if you car pulls its usually tires, or you hit a curb and bent something....

Sometimes customers complain that the steering wheel is not perfectly straight, and that can be fixed with alignment sometimes.... but it doesn't usually pull when that happens.

Re: Alignment Issues

I'm coming up on my first rotation at about 10k. Is the consensus to cross rotate? or do traditional same side front/back? I haven't looked at the manual to see what it says by the way...
