Any winter tire deals going on?

Now that winter is almost over, I was wondering if anyone knew of any good deals on winter tires and steel wheel packages for the Ridgeline?

Tirerack seems to be out of everything.

I was thinking to same as you, now is the time to find deals. I usually buy my tires at Costco but they told me that they (winter tires in stock size) were not in stock at the moment and they probably won't re-order till late summer. They also don't carry a steel rim to fit the RL.
Depending how much I drive the RL this summer, I should be good for one more winter with the factory tires. If I don't sell my Civic soon, I'll drive it for the summer, it will save some gas and the RL tires for winter.

Re: Any winter tire deals going on?

I agree that the OEM tires are great in the snow, but I don't want to use them up all year so that they are less good in the snow next winter. That's why I'm planning to use snow tires next winter.

Anyway, if you find any deals, please let me know and I'll do the same.

Re: Any winter tire deals going on?

Actually I am going the other way. Since the OEM tires worked so well this winter, I'm taking them off & putting new rims with 'touring' tires on for the summer. That way, it should improve (hopefully) my fuel economy a little, and I've still got the full aggression of my factory treads for when the snow flies next time 'round

Re: Any winter tire deals going on?

That's an interesting approach. I hope others chime in.

What tires did you go with?

One nice thing about dedicated snow tires is that you can put them on cheap steel rims<g>

I like Michelins, so went with Latitude Touring HP's. These are the stock tire with the Acura MDX's we build here in Alliston (along with you-know-what) I also went +1 to 18's with new wheels; leaving my factory tire & alloys together; figured it isn't worth the hassle of switching things around when I'm not too keen on the OEM wheels anyways. Just waiting now on UPS...

As pleased as I was with the factory tires in the snow, there are way better tires for winter driving. Not to mention I don't think the alloys will survive more than 4 or 5 winters with all the crap they put on the roads here.

Re: Any winter tire deals going on?

Hey Jet Pack, I've been thinking along the same lines. I'd like to get a set of winter tires and possibly a set of rims, preferably OEM's that someone is selling as they're upgrading their rims. Let me know if you locate/here of anything locally. I did check Costco a few weeks ago but wasn't too serious at the time.

Yes, I do understand. Original plan before I bought the truck was to switch to Blizzaks or equivalent for winter, but the stock LTX's were surprisingly good enough that I decided to spend that money elsewhere

And don't forget that there are many people (not just RL owners only) who use their factory alloys year-round. I personally consider the factory wheels to be a 'different animal' to some extent when compared to an aftermarket wheel if looking at durability in such 'harsh' situations.
