Webwader, great to see you're not experiencing any unusual wear on your tires in 35k miles, even with running them over-inflated. As I mentioned in my earlier post, that's a concern I've had. Nice to know it doesn't seem to make much difference in tire wear. I've been running 34 psi, so now I'll bump it up to 35. Heck, if that works, I may just try 80 or 90! Then I can hit bumps and go airborne....and save even more on gas! Thanks for the info!

Re: Tire Pressure

I have about 33K on my RL. I ran out to check the tire pressure and they were 40 psi. Who woulda thunk? And my gas mileage still averages 16-17 mpg.

Re: Tire Pressure

Interesting...............I just went out to the garage and checked my pressure. The front two tires were at 38 psi. The rear left was 31 psi. The right rear was 36 psi. No wonder this thing rides like a truck!!!!! But hey, I'm gettin' 18.5 mpg!!!

Re: Tire Pressure

Could be the placebo effect... but I think the truck rides better at 32... better response to washboards... and feels even more like its on rails... on pavement.

No, but it kept the TPMS from coming on all winter!

Re: Tire Pressure

I just got back to the house after driving about 40 miles with the tire pressure down to 32 where it's supposed to be. I was shocked. I didn't have any trouble keeping the fillings in my teeth or my glasses on my nose. The ride is much changed..............for the better. Now we'll see what happens to the mileage!

Re: Tire Pressure

Actually with the tires at 40 psi, I like the ride. It's firm but compliant. Ride like it's on rails.

Obviously this question needs a poll.

And obviously... I don't have enough to do.

Try this test..............
Take 2 SEPERATE air gauges and measure the pressure in your tires.

ARE THEY THE SAME??????

Re: Tire Pressure

The implied question is... how do you determine that your gauge is correct. A valid question if you want a resolution of 1lb or better.

You want accuracy and repeatability. I've found the dial gauges are generally good enough... whereas the stick type are not.
