Re: Just bought '08 MDX Sport wheels and tires

Update on the tpms: Yesterday the service manager resorted to calling the Tech Line for advice. He said the owner of an RL put MDX wheels on. The guy in Cali said why? The SM said I guess because he liked them and wanted to. Somehow I knew at that point the 15 minutes spent on hold would be a bad investment.

Here's the deal as I understand it. The '08 system has to be taught new tpms, while the '06 you just drive to 20mph and it learns them. SM tried to do it '08 style but no go. Cleared all again as a last-ditch effort. Light came on driving home. Both Acura and Honda say the sport wheel uses a different tpms but I get the same part # for both. Maybe I got some dummies in these wheels. Next week we swap sensors unless something changes.

Oh, the HPP centers came in sans H's and I was informed they would have to be ordered at another $6ea in gold or chrome for a total of $20ea. The A's look even better to me now. Check please...

Sound like you have to go through a lot just to make the light go away. I would've drive with the tpms light on. When your wheel look that great, who cares about that tiny light on the dash

Only problem is you can't turn VSA off. But yes I'm about to agree. It's one of those deals where it should be plug and play and it drives you nuts when it doesn't work. At least all the troubleshooting has been done under good will so far.

That's interesting. Just put my new wheels together with new sensors, the light never came on at all; it's been a week of daily driving since without issues... I'm going to lower the air pressure in one tire just to confirm TPMS operation.
