Proper rotation of tires

The manual suggests we rotate our Michilen tires every 7500 miles (and I think HAL has a chip in it that gives us a service due notice when this occurs). The manual also tells us that there are two ways to rotate depending on the type of tire - either directional or non-directional.

I checked a tire forum since I did not know what type of tire we had. It appears from the feedback I received that our tires are non-directional. If this is indeed the case, according to the manual, we need to rotate the front to back in an "X" pattern, rather than in the directional simple same side front to back.

This is the first time I have ever heard of "directional" and "non-directional" tires. I just want to verify from you all if this information is correct and that the tires we have are indeed "non-directional".

Re: Proper rotation of tires

From the Tire Rack

For Honda's recommendation, see page 257 of your owner's manual.

"Directional" tires have special tread patterns that only work properly in one direction. These tires are built in LH & RH patterns.

Re: Proper rotation of tires

The OEM tires on the Ridgeline are not directional.
Directional tires usually have an arrow on the side indicating the rotation when the truck is going forwards, i.e. counter-clockwise on the left-hand side.
