Re: What is your tire normal pressure?

Last week at 3000 km I raised mine from 32 to 35, I noticed a big improvement in response and handling, today after a trip on the highway I will say the truck tracks a lot better as well as a firmer more positive feel. Truck Tracks maybe time for a name change , can I do that?

After reading all these posts I guess I will start checking tire pressure a little more often and maybe raise it a little over the recommended 32 psi for a little better mpg. But it's such a pain in the as* to remember and do. I guess the answer for me is to get a good gauge and keep it in the RL and check tire pressure while filling up the fuel tank. I think checking tire pressure is probably one of the most neglected maintenance items for most people.

Who can explain it further- does tire pressure have something to do with mpg?

Higher pressure = rounder tire = less rolling resistance = higher MPG.

Re: What is your tire normal pressure?

MPG improvement or time life of tire should not be part of anyone's motive for maintaining proper tire pressure. Tires are where your truck touches the real world and the traction related safety features built into this vehicle are being compromised if you go against the design specifications for tire pressure - 32 lbs. For anyone not mechanically inclined, this maintenance of tire pressure is the easiest part of keeping your truck safe and absolutely everyone should take the time to check and maintain their own tire pressure. A professional grade tire gauge costs about $7, and makes a great stocking stuffer.

Re: What is your tire normal pressure?

A longtime ago I remember this fellow that showed me a set of tires that he put 75k on. It was like they were shaved as the tire was perfectly even in wear acorss the tread. Then the other day I was talking about this question with some other friends and we went outside to look at a set of tires with 15k over the rating. Same thing they were wore evenly acorss. Both these guys said the following. 35 PSI in the winter and 40 in the summer.
I checked mine and they were at 27 so I've raised them all to 35.
Let ya know how it goes... No noticable difference in the ride as of yet...

I set my tire pressures at 35 p.s.i. because I beleieve that is the best for ride, handling and fuel mileage. I also run with the tailgate down on the expressway to cut down on the wind drag.

I too, set the tire pressure @ 35psi but the tailgate trick does not help my mileage.

Re: What is your tire normal pressure?

I am running 35 psi and doing well. I also take tread depth measurements at each tire rotation (no tire rotation yet since at 4000 miles)

With the 02 Odyssey used to run the tires at 32 to get a better ride and noticed over time that the outsides were wearing at a higher rate than the inside. Went back to 36 on the Odyssey (recommended) and getting even tire wear.
