420hp Ridge w/Huge Tires!

This guy is selling his wheels and tires on ebay. It's pretty impressive that he fit 285/60/18's on his 2" lifted Ridge. He claims that there is no rubbing. It looks really good, a little to drastic for me, at least until another 80,000 miles when my warranty runs out. Anyway, it looks sharp.

He also claims the Ridge pictured here is 420hp turbocharged from dynamicturbo.com. He needs to join our forum, he seems to have the money to do all the stuff we all dream and talk about.

I'll attach the link, but I'll also try to attach the pictures in case the sell expires.

I call BS. Only mod I see is the rims. If you look close the exaust is still stock. 165 hp gain with a turbo and stock exaust, i doubt it. It would have to be pushing like 15psi.

Re: 420hp Ridge w/Huge Tires!

I found this RIdge on Ebay, It stated it had 285/60/R18 Toyo tires on the 18" rims. It did not say anything about lifts and such. I do like how these trucks look with this set up. Not to much but sets it up just right. At least for my taste in trucks.

Nice pics by the way.

As for the HP, I vote BS as well!

Re: 420hp Ridge w/Huge Tires!

420HP would blow the transmission out the first time you put the pedal to the metal. The transmission is the weak link in the Ridgeline and will not take significant increases in horsepower.

The transmission design in the Ridgeline was introduced in 2003. The design has proven to me much more reliable than the previous design, but transmissions continue to be a problem area for Honda.

Re: 420hp Ridge w/Huge Tires!

wow, that's alot of HP for the RL engine. I don't think the RL engine can withstand that amount of HP, i can actually see the possibility if he had changed the piston, piston arm to titanium, iron cylinder sleaves, polished valves, Upgrade VTEC spoons and cams / hydrolics, Port and polish and extrude honing the engine. all in all matched with the Turbo system and blow off valves and timing. Maybe reach 375hp or near 400hp with short lived engine with longivity for everyday use.

It sounds like bench racing to me.

Re: 420hp Ridge w/Huge Tires!

I agree, I too was very suspicious of the claimed 420hp, I didn't know if that was even possible. I guess everyone on here has confirmed that it is probably BS.

Still good to see tires that big on the Ridge. The Discount Tire Store near me told me they put tires that big on a RL, I was then a little worried about their ambition to do that to mine. I told them I wanted to stay with a close to stock OD, and no mods to the suspension. I would hope they would dicourage that kind of extreme change to the vehicle's dynamics, but they seemed to support it. Anyway, I was well informed from this forum and didn't give in to their pressure.

Re: 420hp Ridge w/Huge Tires!

Looks sharp with the bigger tires but like any lifted truck with bigger tires, your off the line pickup is gone and gas mileage suffers. Speedometer error. But it does look tough though. Don't care for the rims.

I also think the 420 hp is BS! Couldn't find a turbo on the listed web site.

Re: 420hp Ridge w/Huge Tires!

maybe its a typo?? something something w/ huge tires! ????
I don't remember reading that Jap engineers like to over engineer their engines like german engineers. I used to own a VW passat and the engine that came with it is a 1.8liter engine with a KO3 turbo. now change the chip on this engine with a performance chip and a new KO4 turbo, with a new blow off valve that can hold its preasure. the stock engine is rated 170hp, now with the upgrade it boosted it to 230hp with 2.1 bar chip and 12 psi of preasure. The engine can handle it, cuz the same engine is used on the Audi TT and A4 sport with much higher HP. Hmm.....i see smoke coming out of someone's behind and it isn't coming out of the RL.

Re: 420hp Ridge w/Huge Tires!

I asked the person with this EBay listing about the modifications to his Ridgeline and where could I purchase the same turbo unit. I find the Ridgeline to be sorely underpowered and have been searching for a way to add more horsepower (with 420 HP, the Ridgeline at 800 pounds less than the Porsche Cayenne Turbo would eat the Porsche for breakfast). Which is my idea of a good time....

His reply: "if you would like to call me Monday, I can refer you to my shop. Dynamic Turbo. or, visit www.dynamicturbo.com in the meanwhile!"

The telephone number is available on the above mentioned website and the shop is in Florida. Apparently, the seller of these wheels and tires is no longer a registered user on EBay, so the story becomes a bit suspicious..
