Lowered, Meaner, a little cleaner...

I took more photos a few days ago (the Ridgeline is clean this time) and put the silver colored directional bulbs in (they light orange) and mounted the Ridgeline Owners Club decal in the middle rear window yesterday... As soon as I get off my tail and finish my taxes, I will reward myself by installing the new grilles. By then, hopefully, the MagnaFlow exhaust will be available...

Thanks to whoever posted the instructions for replacing the directional bulbs elsewhere on the board -- it certainly was not intuitive! For those of you who have looked at those panel clips and tried to simply pop them out with a screwdriver (as I tried on my first one - Duh) the trick is thus: use a pair of needle-nose pliers and grab the center stud using the notches (cut-outs) on opposite sides of the surrounding collar and simply pull out the center stud - it will come out about 3/4 of an inch and then the whole retaining clip will follow. It takes about 2 seconds and does not injure the clip.

By the way, is the Ridgeline supposed to have roof trim as a matter of course? I was looking over the instructions for installing the roof rack which included the specific manner in which to remove the factory roof trim, and I note that my Ridgeline has no roof trim - simply two deep grooves on either side of the roof. Is the trim that goes within those grooves an option that I failed to purchase?

For those who have asked, as tight as it may seem, there is clearance for the 22s even with the truck lowered. The outside diameter and circumference of the tires are almost exactly stock, and turning the wheels rack to rack and compressing the springs still reveals clearance. I suppose that if you took a heck of a sinkhole with the wheel all the way to one side at decent speed you might polish the plastic fender shroud, but not much more....

Thanks!

Roof molding they are talking about are the black plastic strips that are on top of the RL....(in the channels)

Hope this helps!

Re: 22s, Lowered, Meaner, a little dirty...

(The wheels have a 40mm offset)

Well, I decided to forget about getting my taxes done since my friend who was going to help me with the Ridgeline is going off to Paramedic School later this week, so I sorta hadta install the blackout grilles today. I bought polished aluminum billet grilles off EBay (I can give you the vendor if you want) and then stripped off the protective coating and had them black anodized. The installation required moderate modifications to the main grille and some changes in bracketing to make it all come together - the installation kit could have been put together a little better. The Fujita RamAir intake was also installed, along with a performance chip - we will see what all this does to the gas mileage! The sound is throatier with the RamAir intake, and you can really tell when the VTEC cam timing changes over around 4,000rpm! The new Magnaflow exhaust should be arriving any day now....

Below are a couple of photos before the light faded (and yes, the Honda emblem is smaller than the Ridgeline stock emblem - I did this to leave balance on the grille to put the Supercharger script in the lower right corner when I have the can't-come-fast-enough Comptech supercharger installed later this summer)... On the next sunny day I will try to get a few photos where the blackout billet grilles are more prominent.....
