Smile Becareful buying aftermarket rims !!

Even though I already have my new rims, I always like to see what else is out there. While doing a search on numerous websites, I found that many websites say they offer over 600 different styles of rims to fit the ridgeline exactly, while others claim that there arent too many rims that will fit. If your going with aftermarket rims, make sure you get a guarantee that they will fit perfectly. I have read many threads with people stating that their dash board seemed to want to fall off due to the shaking and vibration of their wheels.
I just figure I would put in my 2 cents. Be careful. and get that guarantee.

On page 18-47 of my Honda Ridgeline Service Manual it says:

Quote:
Vehicles equipped with TPMS must use wheels made for the system. Every TPMS wheel has exclusive mark: do not use any other type of wheel.

No, I have no problems whatsoever. I just keep hearing other people tell me horror stories about their rim experience. I am glad that mine fit first try..

Re: Becareful buying aftermarket rims !!

putting 22's on my ridge was a big step. also facing the tpms sensor was another thing. so after i purchased the rims and tires i noticed that the tpms sensor came on. i got nervous because i spent a great amount of money to make the truck look good. and then the sensor comes on. i took the truck back to where i bought the rims and demanded to speak to the owner. i expressed my feeling about the salesman, selling me wheels for the truck that i wouldn't have any type of problems. the solution is, we are able to buy the tpms sensors for the new rims and tires. also the wheels needed hub rings. the rim shop ordered them and i am waiting for everything to be put on. i will give you more detail.

Re: Becareful buying aftermarket rims !!

Figured I would jump in as people do seem to come across rthe older threads. I think the bottom line is do your homework! I checked on Rims for like 4 months and I mean I checked numerous websites locals and so forth. There are a number of threads on Rims here as well. Once you decide what you want I advise getting them through a local tire shop. I went through Les Schwab here, paid a lil more, but I do not mind. They guaranntee is good for lifetime. If the rims did not fit they would have taken them back, and I get free tire rotations forever, whenever I want, and free flat repair, roadside, yada yada yada. For as many good companies and reps out there there are just as many others they just want ure money so make sure that u know what u want and need and if sometime unexpected does happen then make sure you are dealing with someone that stands by their word. if you are buying from internet then also be aware that you are getting the supper cheaps prices for one of several reasons:

BLIMS!!!!! These are Rims like buying diamonds with some sort of blimishes or visual defect!

Stock on hand

You buy it you own it or some significant restocking fee plus shipping

Exactly what I am trying to avoid with my future wheel purchase for my Accord. That's why I am leaning to a Honda HFP or a different model take-off wheel.

Re: Becareful buying aftermarket rims !!

hey...new member here...just wanted to say i got my rims from discount tires...20" w/ 275/40/20 tires...rides great...maybe feel bumps a little more, but definitely worth it for the look..anyways, going with local tire shop was really reassuring cuz i can always bring it back for issues...looked at online shops for awhile, but couldn't get myself to pay that much and have unresolvable issues...btw, will post pics later...
