Re: Bigger tires

AMLEO, did you try the 265/70 BG A/Ts specifically? If so did they rub only when turning, I presume? The BFGs have a very square edge on them. Much more pronounced than other A/T tires. I wonder if the Nitto TerraGrappler 265/70s would fit with a lift?

Also, what happened to your TOYOs? Do you like these better overall?

Re: Bigger tires

That would be sweet, but I doubt that the RL could really take advantage of the environment they are designed for without true low range 4WD gearing. They sure would look cool though.

Re: Bigger tires

Any updates and photos? I'm considering in purchasing BF Goodrich A/T but bigger and wider than stock. I would like to keep the stock 17" rim for now, at least.

Re: Bigger tires

Updates? When it comes to larger tires, there seems to be a lot of talk on this forum, but very little follow-up. We need pics!

You went wider, but how much higher sidewall can one go with stock rims? 70? 75?

Re: Bigger tires

Provided I won't go with new tires until the stock ones need replacing, but once they do, I'd like to try to stick on a set of Nitto Terragrapplers (on/off road tires) which are 265 70 R17s.

Wink Re: Bigger tires

the tire sizing is actaully a ratio of the two numbers (265/65) so i went a little wider and 1" taller (30.7 vs 29.7 stock) as mentioned. the 245/70 is the same diameter, 30.7 but it is narrower.

so its possible to have a shorter (less dia.) tire in a 70 series vs a 60 series (all being r17's) by having a smaller number (235 vs say 265) up front.

it gets a little confusing i know
cheers
