Re: lowering ridge - bad experience

I just called KW (love their products) and it looks like they're finalizing up pricing and specs on these. The magical question here that I wanna know is.... What are the spring rates and can they keep up with a 5,000 lbs tow? KW said that the tester (I'm guessing that's you Lupo) tow your boat and have no issues. How heavy is the boat and trailer as vs. my race car and trailer (car at 2500 lbs and trailer at about 1500 lbs with tools and tires).

ok,
the Front Spring Rate is 400lb/inch ~ 70N/mm
Rear Spring Rate is 450lb/inch ~ 80N/mm

there is also a heavy Duty Spring with 550lb/inch ~ 100N/mm

by the way, the OEM Springrate is on the Front 165lb/inch ~ 30N/mm
and on the rear 325lb/inch ~ 58N/mm

the weigth of my boat is aprox. 4000lb

So Lupo, will any of these issues be an issue with the KW variant 3?

1. Rear camber negative offset was 1.90 degrees --- that is pretty bad guys
2. Rough ride, at times unbearable
3. With the tow hitch mounted, the front of the car is higher by about .3-.5", since the rear seems to sag a bit
4. You pretty much loose the towing ability and the cargo...only about 400 will put so much stress on the rear axle that the mufler is about 3'' off the ground.
5. No available camber kit - an none in R&D
6. ONE OF THE REAR SHOCKS STARTED LEAKING - NOT NECESSARILY LINKED TO THE LOWER SUSPENSION, BUT VERY COINCIDENTAL TO ME.

It looked awesome if you could get over the camber issue for the rear axle and you get lots of people looking at your truck like it came from Mars...

I will reconsider later an Eibach pro-kit, with a 1.5'' drop and a proper camber kit. I have a feeling that no other reputable suspension company will develop any kits for this truck...too bad the upper arm is not adjustable.

THINK VERY HARD BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO DO IT...IT ALSO COST ME ABOUT $1,000 (including 2 installations, 2 awd alignments and the spring set)

Re: lowering ridge - bad experience

Can I get that in Kg/mm?

Edit: NM, I think I figured it out. 7 kg/mm and 10kg/mm. Think that's kinda light spring rate for a truck?

u got it...

to convert lb/in to kg/mm you multiply by 0.0179 and to convert kg/mm to lb/in you divide by 0.0179

stock spring rate is 5,9kg/mm...

the 1/2ton Dodge Ram leaf Spring got for example 5,3kg Spring Rate...

I was thinking the same thing as the coilovers on my Accord was at 13 IIRC. The higher spring rates must be associated with the smaller amount of suspension travel on cars vs. trucks.

I'm patiently waiting for a price myself on the setup myself.

u cant compare that, the RL suspension is for the Street, not for the Racetrack like your RSX, and also the RL has a complete different Axle Giometrie than the RSX, differetnt Axle Ratio and more...

And don`t forget the Benefits of the KW Dampening system, compare to other Brands way more Compression force with a Patendet Baypass System...

Re: lowering ridge - bad experience

I spoke with Tom at KW in Cali and pricing will be available for the control arms and the kit sometime next week.
He said he will try to set us with one of their dealers for a group buy to get price break...the MSRP for the whole kit will probably be around $2500 which is too much for what I want to pay for this mod.
I was curious how many folks would seriously consider doing this?
