Re: K&N Air Intake Installation

look this is all that matters

intake 200 bux exhaust 400 bux JET ecu 350 total under 1K = 50 hp My truck ran a 15.9 before the ecu upgrade so we'll see but with intake and exhaust it was almost a full second faster than stock. you do feel the intake. But get AEM

It doesn't rumble at idle. The sound you will hear is above 3k RPM. Over 4k RPM, it'll be screaming at you (in a very good way)

Re: K&N Air Intake Installation

Well when I stand on it people turn and look. I think most are surprised at the sound when they realize it is a Ridgeline and not an American pickup or muscle car. It has a nice V8 sound.

Re: K&N Air Intake Installation

Installed a K&N aircharger on my recently acquired 2006 Ridgeline.

Throttle response seems crisper, although I won't claim any real power increase.

Sound is nice, but not offensive. (as per previous posts)

With cruise control locked at 110 kph (70 mph) I have noticed a minimal increase in fuel economy, about 1 mpg. However I suspect that the tendency to go a liitle harder on the throttle around town will negate any fuel savings.

Overall a fun mod, and not overly pricey.

You will notice people looking in your direction when you get on it. Report back when your first V8 truck owner looks in amazement

Re: K&N Air Intake Installation

I'd like to see a dyno plot before and after the install, on the same day.

If I was a betting man, I'd say the gains in the butt-dyno-placebo are more than what the dyno plot would show you. I think the stock system is designed quite well, and untilizes good, cold air coming in at vehicle speed. Plus, I cringe at the use of gauze filters. But whatever, I guess.

Re: K&N Air Intake Installation

maybe a naive question - but does this void the warranty? I ran K&N in my bikes, but never had a warranty issue, as my bikes were Honda as well. So, not that I think this will hurt the engine, but what will the Service guys say when they work on the truck? Void or no?

And which K&N kit is that?

No, it doesn't automatically void any warranty, BUT you can end up with Honda denying a warranty claim.

The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act says that the manufacturer can't void or deny warranty coverage if you use replacement parts that meet or exceed OEM specifications. And then there's another "BUT"... a K&N air filter does not meet OEM specifications.

So the bottom line? If you have a failure that can directly be attributed to the use of K&N air filter Honda can deny warranty coverage. "Directly attributed" are the keywords. If your radio failed they can't directly attribute that to an air filter, but if you have a MAF sensor fail they may be able to directly attribute it to a K&N filter.
