Re: K&N Air Intake Installation

I agree with almost everything you relayed about the install....I pulled it off solo, and it definitely was not as easy as relayed over some postings. The sound does come off well when one drops the hammer per se. However, I noticed in warmer weather I'm getting a high pitched sound or wheezing only when I'm in drive, not neutral and revving. I'm thinking that I have a slight leak somewhere with a hose clamp, but haven't pinpointed it.
I totally agree with how close the filter is toward the front of the headlight assy., etc. Tight fit! I've had it on now for about 1000mi with no performance issues other than that slight sound I'm receiving. I recommend it for a cheap HP increase and throaty growl though. Not quite sold on the mpg savings, but we'll see.

Re: K&N Air Intake Installation

Hello,

I recently installed a cold air intake (K&N 77-3515KP) and was surprised to
hear a whistling sound in the 2200 - 2500 rpm rage, so much so I took the filter out and went back to stock.

Anyone else have issues with it?... seems the sound comes from the throttle
body as it opens.

I know there is a non metallic version of this cold air intake series 63, anyone have some feedback?

thanks

All of the K&N systems do it. The whistling comes from the air being sucked in through the open intake box. I believe your stock system will do the same thing if you take the box off and riv the motor. I've had 4 of these kits on different cars/trucks and they all do it.

Re: K&N Air Intake Installation

Thanks for your reply.

Oddly enough I too have installed K&N cold air's as well, the latest in my Acura RSX type S (2002) the typhoon model , and no whistling sound.

I'll probably just get the drop in, It seems to work just fine, I've used it before in the past on other cars Jetta GLX 1998 with the VR6.
