Re: Who has put on "just" an aftermarket muffler?

Although not a Ridge, on my Astro van with a 4.3 V-6 I used a chevrolet V-8 truck muffler. This is a large muffler with 1 inlet and two outlets. I used the existing pipe from the converter and put the muffler at the back of it near the rear axle. Then I had a muffler shop bend up dual outlets out the back of it up and over the rear axle. It had a very deep throaty sound without being too loud or having a lot of freeway resonance. It sounded a lot like a V-8. If it would have the same effect on the smaller 3.5 I cant say, but it was not expensive and I certainly didnt have any of the droning effects I read about with some of the catbacks.

Re: Who has put on "just" an aftermarket muffler?

it's a custom job take 4 hour to perfect fit on.

the rest of the job is to put headers from motor and dual all long the truck.

the sound is very good and at the end they cost me - 300$ cdn

I'm very happy :0

Thanks for comments

JapanTuner,

Are you running any mufflers/resonaters through the whole system at all or do you just have a straight pipe back from the last Catalytic converter? What is the sound like, thanks.

I just heard a video on Youtube of a guy that had a custom exhaust put on his Ridge. It sounds good. I wish I could find out what it is.

It is I god youtube it's a 24inch magnaflow muffler with stainless
steel tubing no resonator instead of the kit supplied 21in muffler with resonator

The thing is with the chip and intake it leans out the air fule mix so naturally I get less drone to begine with and then with a longer muffler.

If you have the magnaflow setup the best thing to do is not to keep welding resonators on but to sub in an extra muffler. And GET STAINLESS STEEL there is no point in having one part of your exhaust rust and fall apart. even the crappiest muffler place should be able to do this for under 120 bux and it should look OE
