My RL battery dead in the morning...

Geez,
woke up in the morning and ready to drive to work. was wondering why my fob key wouldn't work, so i opened her manually and inserted the key and no lights what so ever. Jumped started her with another car, she started alright, but as soon as i took the jumper cables off, the engine was reving, but the internal lights started to dim and shut down, and the engine just reved and stuttered and died. Well, called my honda dealer and made an appointment to have her checked out, and while there, she can have the recall done, update the transmission software taken care off, and a few other stuff to be asked..
she's ok now, charge is holding, hopefully she will have enough charge to run in the morning to go to the dealer.

Re: My RL battery dead in the morning...

I took my RL in the dealer to have them looked, why my RL had a dead battery in the morning. I told them to look at the battery, alternator or any loose cables that may have been the cause. At the same time, i had them do the Recall for the fuel thing, Re-do the Software tranny software update, also have them look and check why the front seat sometimes lurch forward on hard braking or acceleration. and have all the bed caps replaced, since the caps keeps popping off.

My service manager couldn't find anything on the dead battery issue, they test load the battery to see if it was the batter, they test alternator and it was fine. They checked all the wire connection to see if there was something loose or xwired or grounded but nothing. So, they recharged the battery and fixed the others and told me if it happens again, bring it back.

So, i'm happy, but not worried it will happen again about the dead battery. Everything is updated and recall and tsb taken cared off. They even washed and cleaned the Tannaue cover and bed, she was really dusty both body and bed.

Re: My RL battery dead in the morning...

Could you have left the headlights on and the key in the ignition?

When I first got my Ridge, I left the lights on, they will turn themselves off right - wrong. I had left the key in and had not read my manual and the battery ws dead the next morning. If the key is in the lights willnot turn off.

Hey buddy; have you recently installed any additional electronic “toys” to your Ridge that utilizes twelve volt electrical power which could have developed a dead short? I know you love to plug in a ton of goodies into all of the cig lighters in your cab. Have you added fog lights or maybe a new trailer hitch harness?

Re: My RL battery dead in the morning...

nope, didn't leave the headlights on or keys in the ignition, i even looked at the manual interior lights switch right by everyone's right knee. It was switched off

I haven't add or didn't add any new toyz yet most light i've installed are connected to the same switch as the head light for the interior ambient lighting.

Had the dealer looked at it and everything checked out ok, i've even told them to check the alternator and cables to the battery and make sure there's nothing grounding or any short going on.

Re: My RL battery dead in the morning...

My battery was dead yesterday. My RTL is only 1 month. Everything was ok except the battery.

Also we did put the fog lights on too. what would that do since they are not on?

I did not drive this truck for 6 days this last week?

cheers

Re: My RL battery dead in the morning...

Found that I hit the interior light switch by accident and left it on overnight. No problem since the jumpstart.

Re: My RL battery dead in the morning...

The cargo bed light gets me every once in a while. It's so easy to bump on the way in or out. Glad it was a simple issue.
