JET ECU upgrade initial drive

I went down to there office in HB yesterday and pulled the ecu and about 2 hours later I came back and it was all done.

At this point for the people that have intake and exhaust I'm gonna have to say it's worth the 350 bux. It's much stronger just motoring around and it's stronger stepping on it. Gas mileage during the 250 miles I've had it so far have been a bit better 2-3 pg average.

Since this is a pre made program it's not the ultimate set up. But without anyone offering a dyno tunable unit this will do and for the people that want plug and play.

I had planned to get over to XS where they have an AWD dynojet but it will have to wait until later this week but I'm sure the mid range is much improved.

The top end I have mixed feelings about and I'll wait for the dyno to say whether its really making 14-16 more at the wheels like JET claims.

A minor disapointment is the number of stickers jet uses including for race purposes only - not intended for use on a smog controlled vehicle and the jet seal, a sure sign to any dealer that somethings up, even there there should not be an issue.

Re: JET ECU upgrade initial drive

Alexander,
Does the Re-program require premium fuel?

Re: JET ECU upgrade initial drive

they do require 89 octane and recommend 91. Since I never put anything other than shell 91 in the tank that doesnt affect me.

Actually if I had my way I'd fully tune it to run 91 all the time, but that will have to wait.

if for some reason you put in 87 the knock sensor with some moderate driving and it will run fine I'm sure

Re: JET ECU upgrade initial drive

I agree I only use 93 here on the east coast. I've use 87 once and won't again. This is a long shot but has anyone asked a "friend" at the dealer if Hondas computer can reflash to use premium? I really don't like hearing about all the stickers. I don't see why it would be for offroad use only. Especially since better fuel economy is achieved which means the engine is running more efficently.

Re: JET ECU upgrade initial drive

becuse it's a pollution controlled device, in cali they can only be modified with carb certification legally. The stickers are just to cover there arse.

Unless a dealer had an awd dyno of some sort I dont think they could make an effective reflash however I'm sure some computer geak could figure out how to raise th redline, vtec xover and speed limiter though.

Exclamation Re: JET ECU upgrade initial drive

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
SOMEONE finally sacked up, and did it.

You must be the first actual person that I've come in contact on this forum, and the other Ridgeline forum, or anywhere that has done the JET reprogram.

I've been waiting for someone to do this mod, and reaffirm My belief that it would be MORE worth while than any of the typical (useless) engine mods that the majority of people are doing(Intake & Exhaust).

Tell me, Does it seem to have any more power in the 0-to-2500 RPM range(Did it improve in the typical RPM range)?

Does it have more launching power?

More Torque?

What exactly does JET alter in the Engine management?

Thanks
Jake from NOR-CAL

The useless mods you talk about is part of the equation.

Re: JET ECU upgrade initial drive

Excuse me.

Useless to the effect of reducing low-RPM torque, and changing the power curve to a higher-RPM range where most people don't use regularly.

IMO: Modifying to change the Power curve to produce power in a Higher Rpm range, and effectively reducing power in the lower RPM range= Hurts drivability

I wonder how the JET reprogram would perform on a Ridge with out a High flow exhaust, and intake.

No offense intended.

Re: JET ECU upgrade initial drive

its very smooth and noticeably torquey from the moment you give it some gas. I am being very cautious about saying how much until I see the dyno results but it is worth the money. Before I had this I was runing a 15.9 with intake and exhaust so I wouldnt say there useless.

jet says they have a program that reads the stock ecu and finds where it can be improved.

Cool Re: JET ECU upgrade initial drive

Thanks for the info

I'm curious what your 0-to-60 mph time is now? I wonder if it got quicker?

Whoa,

Now I think I want it.
