Where do you get an Air Filter?

I've read through numerous threads here looking for what brand people recommend. Most turned into K&N versus everything else pissing matches with no commentary on what paper filters are the best. I could have missed it though.

I don't really want a K&N so I'm looking for a paper filter. I went by 6 different auto parts stores today (Schucks, Auto Zone (multiple times) and one other) and no one had a filter in stock. Most only carried Fram or STP.

I'm assuming Fram is ok, since no one violently objected to it (as opposed to the K&N). Any other suitable replacements and where they might be obtained here in the Pacific Northwest?

If all else fails I will go to the stealer.

Thanks.

Re: Where do you get an Air Filter?

Just checked NAPA today. NAPA nada Everyone lists them... no one stocks them. To the stealer I will go. Should be interesting to see the price difference. The stores who list but don't stock have them priced for 18$ - 20$. What do you think... I'm guessing the dealer will be 50% higher because the box has "Honda" on it.

PS: years ago when I autocrossed a Miata, I installed a K&N. Still have the filter charger. Maybe I will go K&N after all

Re: Where do you get an Air Filter?

yesterday paid $22.95 for honda dealer air cleaner. Install was not itemized as it was part of my "intermediate service". paid $36.95 for hepa cabin filter but did not pay labor for install (dealer price $104)

air cleaner was listed as part 17220-rje-a00 element, air cleaner. Bet you can get the same air cleaner at the dealer parts department. can u install yourself?
I don't think they show this install in any owner books. all this just an item response and an fyi.

Thanks, dog (aka divotdog... I've been watching too many hip hop inspired movies ). Yeah, I think it's a 30 second replacement if I can just get the part.

Re: Where do you get an Air Filter?

HandA has the air filter listed for $15.61. I know the shipping charge added to the price would probably be more than your local dealer's price. I got the stock filter from them when I placed an order with them previously....The added shipping for it was minimal with the other items I orderd.

Re: Where do you get an Air Filter?

I had a used oil analysis performed by Blackstone last year with review by oil garu Terry Dyson. Dyson said the best thing for our engine is to use a less restrictive air filter (such as Fram) rather than the OEM. He said just be sure to change out the air filter every 10,000 miles under normal conditions. I had AutoZone special order the filter and it was under twenty bucks.

Can you explain why Dyson said a less restrictive filter is better than OEM?

Re: Where do you get an Air Filter?

I just ordered a set from bernardiparts.com for my truck and the wife's Pilot. H&A's site was having issues this morning or I would have gone with them.

Re: Where do you get an Air Filter?

I couldn't wait. I'd been neglecting it. Hopefully the dealer changed it at 20K when I bought it. It has 37K now. I bought a Honda filter because it was all I could find. I was correct... 50% higher at 28$. Oh well. If definately needed one.

I'll get a Fram next time.

Re: Where do you get an Air Filter?

I checked the Fram filter catalog and could not find an air filter or cabin filter listed for the Ridgeline.
