Rear end droop... Excessive camber.

I just passed 60,000 miles on my 2006 Ridgeline and I noticed the excessive camber on the rear tires. On an alignment machine, if we push up the camber lessens a bit.

What are the height measurements for the Ridgeline, and are there any air shocks or rear spring kits that I can use?

Have your rear struts checked. My truck, with 100lbs of gear in the trunk, measure 29.5' from the ground to the lip (Or the bead) inside the wheel well.

Struts and shocks don't support vehicle weight UNLESS they use air. This will be a spring or other support issue. I just had it on a rack where they checked for loose/broken parts. The camber was a -1.3 where it should be around -0.5.

I am looking for someone who manufactures an air shock or HD spring for this puppy. I routinely carry 300 pounds in the bed and I can push that to a thousand pounds with just Scuba Gear.

Which is also a good question: do they consider these to be McPherson struts in the rear?

Strictly speaking, they are Chapman Struts on the rear, not MacPherson.

Re: Rear end droop... Excessive camber.

I have noticed a lot of back end droop. I typically haul about 200# of gear and tow a trailer that I balance to around 400# tongue weight. When I drive at night, I really piss people off coming the other way, but there isn't much I can do about it.

I have thought about trying these:

http://www.howeracing.com/Suspension...ls-Rubbers.htm

They are called 'spring rubbers' and are generally used as a cheap and easy way to stiffen your springs. I wouldn't race with them (as advertised) but I see no harm in using them occasionally to haul or tow. Should be easy to remove when you don't need them.

Also, someone mentioned shocks. Shocks have very little support in them, even the gas charged ones. The weight support comes from springs.

You might want to do some checking too, Mike. Out of curiousity I measured mine. With a full-sized spare and a Torza soft tonneau, it measures 33.25" to the bead. With 400 lb on the hitch, it only drops 1 3/8" at the hitch ball.

OOopppppsss

You are correct at guessing something was amiss

I do not know what I measured (Not looking for suggestions either )

My truck measure 33 3/8" to the bead of the rear wheel well with about 100 pounds of gear in the truck

Re: Rear end droop... Excessive camber.

I was thinking maybe you had made a lowrider out of it.

Re: Rear end droop... Excessive camber.

Well now I know that my rear end droop is due to excessive camber. Ms Djeaux will probably want me to go see a surgeon...

I won't even go into "spring rubbers" ... no telling WHAT she'd say about that!
