Thanks “hofffam”

A special thanks to “hofffam” for the hot tip on the “Pela Oil Extractor.” Of all my years of changing oil I have never experienced such an easy to use tool. It made the job go as smooth as silk with absolutely zero mess. Now I’m kinda bummed that I never got to use my trick little “Fumoto Oil Drain Valve”

Wow. That is a pretty slick gadget you've got there.

Hey, in that photo it looks like you've got some chips in your painted grille, or are those spots dust on the camera lenses?

I keep wanting to paint my grille with the same paint, yet paint my chrome Honda emblem a different shade of black.

That would look cool too. If I did my own oil changes, I'd be interested in that apparatus.

Where do you take the oil, once full, to dispose of or for recycling?

Oil changes are so simple with this tool. You’ll almost look forward to doing them. Zero cleanup no more messy pans or crawling under the vehicle. I bought the PELA 650 but the smaller unit will work as well. The spent oil is poured into the large plastic laundry detergent bottles Cindy saves me and the Auto Parts Stores take it to reclamation. It's too bad you cannot change the oil filter from up there.
Crawling under cars isn't my most favorite thing to do (anymore).

Hey - your post was very timely and appreciated. I'm glad the pump worked well for you.

I changed my oil today also. Used my pump of course. Easy as pie.

One thing you should watch out for using this kind of pump - if you insert the hose too far - it might "turn the corner" and head up and might not pick up all the oil. I usually compare to the dipstick.

That’s exactly what I thought as I made certain the 3/16Ø tube was placed into the dip stick hole at the same depth as the actual dip stick cable by first setting them side by side and marking the correct length on the plastic hose with a piece of black electric tape. I had a little more than 4 quarts in the container after extraction. After using the food storage bag over the oil filter trick I was still considering machining a billet block off plate and mounting a remote filter unit somewhere inside the engine bay. You are da man!! Thanks again........
