Re: pulstarplug
Joe said it all.
There is nothing to add. May this thread gently drift to the bottom of the thread pile. Buh Bye! ![]()

To compare Pulstar type snake oil plugs to platinum or iridium tipped plugs is insane. Some people are just suckers for gimmicks... apparently a lot of people. It's sad. |

Re: pulstarplug
Keep in mind that using platinum or iridium tipped spark plugs is primarily for longevity and durability... not increased efficiency.

And to be honest with you I'll take dyno runs over your oppinion. |

To assume that sharper is automatically better is probably wrong. The same amount of energy will be delivered, minus any loss in the added capacitor. Seems to me all you'd get is a slight change in timing. The shape of that curve is more controlled by the ignition circuit in any event. A simple dyno test proves not much, other than that the plug produces a spark. The results taken on a souped up Dodge neon were within measurement accuracy... and certainly don't prove anything. I'd be more likely to pay attention if they show an advantage on the race track... or the drag strip. The engineers would have taken the time to integrate the plug into their tuner design. Even then I'd have to know the nature of the financial support (kickback) being provided to the team. Claims of paying for themselves in a year are ridiculous. So in summary, it makes no sense design-wise, is supported by poorly designed and reported tests, and makes claims that are patently ridiculous to anyone that can do simple math. In short, these capacitive plugs are very likely a scam, as csimo says. The "look what I've got factor" might be worth a hundred bucks to some people. Me... I'm Scottish by design... and born in Missouri to boot.
