What about when your gas gauge reads exactly 1/2 full, can you put 12-1/2 gals in? If so, case closed.
Doesn't the government control the accuracy of the pumps through the Department of Weights and Measures? It has to be accurate then.

First you said 18.5 to 19 gallons when it shuts off, now you says 22 to 23. make up your mind. Either way running it dry like I did is the ultimate test. Which I have done and then topped it off to the lip.

If you don't believe I ran it dry I have video of the wife and mother-in-law laughing at me as I jogged to the gas station.

Plus it's unusual that I agree with someone from MA but like the great shovelhd said "Honda says the tank holds 22 gallons. I tend to believe them." and I have to agree with him.

Our company policy is not to fillup until the light comes on in our vehicles (unless the projected driving for that day would make it inconvenient). My mileage thread post (Gas Mileage: My Numbers) has the actual speadsheet used for the chart (63k miles on RL). Several times I have limped into the station after 50 miles with the light on. Under those circumstances, I was never able to get over 22 gallons in the tank, even filling up the filler tube. Also I consistently put in 18.5 gallons just after the light goes on. Just my real world experience, FWTW.

Dude, I don't believe I would have shared that with the rest of us. Wife is one thing, mother-in law...........I would have claimed the total engine locked up, called a wrecker and never, ever told anyone about it.
Mother-in Law....... that's just wrong on so many levels.
