Please let us know what the dealer says or does.

Re: banging noise

I notice this too, only 1st thing in the morning. Maybe a sticky strut? I'd say it sounds more like a creeking sound. I think the MDX's had the same issue and it was something with the strut. I'll do a search and see if I can find the fix and post.

Re: banging noise

Same here, does it in the morning when I pull out of my driveway in "R". Just after I put in "D" and move away...........this is when I hear the sound.

My Ody did this also but was not as often. Could be any of the things mentioned about. Mine does not seem related to steering or transmission.

ps, my drive is on a slight incline upto the street.....!!!

Lightbulb Re: banging noise

I believe the bang you are hearing it is the anti-lock brake setting. I would suspect that yours is not functioning correctly and therefore you hear it after every start from standstill.

Re: banging noise

gormlyflyer 2002 - I have the same noise, however, it is followed immediately every time by the auto door locks engaging. I'm wondering if it is some kind of transmission sensor that activiates at 9 MPH and tells the door solenoid locks to engage.

good point ebone.........i wondered if the two were related. i noticed the locks
immediately after hearing it also........i thought i read somewhere above that
someone heard it even when the auto locks were turned off. do you know how to run offf the auto locks? but wait, even if you turned off the "locks" the sensor, if thats what it is thats making noise, would still do its part and make the noise don't you think........even if doors didn't lock

WITH SILICON PASTE

noise damper service bulletin with the right and left front S/ABS units (51605-S3V-A04) & both silencer tubes (52442-SOX-A01)

floating brake pads/calipers changing direction and clunking
SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION COMPONENTS: DISC:CALIPER
Bulletin Number: 032604
Bulletin Date: MAR 2004
REAR BRAKE SHIM KITS FOR THE REAR BRAKE CALIPERS WHICH MAY CLUNK THE FIRST TIME THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED AFTER CHANGING DIRECTION FROM FORWARD TO REVERSE OR VICE-VERSA. *TT

STEERING
Bulletin Number: 011303
Bulletin Date: JAN 2003
FRONT DAMPER NOISE. *TT
SHIMS; 9195 WPR 0.00" package to install above the front end struts

Re: banging noise

Mine sounds more like a mechanical "clunk" I'm thinking the floating brake caliper/pads suggestion is what I'm hearing......thanks guys

No worries from my end, never really hear anything after my initial morning departure.
