Re: "Turtle Wax Ice" line Product Review

I just picked up the Liquid Clay Bar and the Liquid Wax. I was a little confused on the directions on the LCB. It says rinse off the loose dirt and surface soils. Shake well to activate. Apply LCB directly to the sponge and apply to all exterior washable paint surfaces. It does not mention washing just rinsing. And it does not say to dry the vehicle. Should the LCB be applied wet or dry? Directions seem to say wet.

Yeah, I was just as confused.

I washed the truck as I figured removing all contaminants first seemed ideal. Having some dampness on the paint probably helps, but I dried before the LCB. Once you shake the bottle thoroughly and see how it initially is applied, dampness on the paint is likely better than drying after the wash.

The rinsing is to get any caked on dirt that would other wise cause more scratches... The "clay" is an abrasive to smooth out the clear coat and also to take off "crude" from tar to bird feces and bug guts. Just dampen the applicator after first rinsing off your RL.... As far as washing with soap after is pointless, because really you just cleaned the surface by scrapping off what ever was on top...

Okay. Going to try it on the Civic first. See what it does on an 8 year old car. Wife still prefers Liquid Glass so we may have to flip a coin to see what wax goes on the Ridgeline.

Re: "Turtle Wax Ice" line Product Review

Well I just finished 'Icing' the Civic and I must say I am very impressed. The Liquid Clay Bar I think I need to give another shot. It did work but there were some spots left that I feel it should have removed. The Liquid Wax on the other hand is phenominal. Sun or shine, hot or cold, the result was stunning. It adds depth as others have mentioned. And leaves no white residue. Plus it goes on and comes off super easy. Which makes me question its durability. I have two coats on right now. Planning another two coats before winter.

One thing I did notice on the trunk is a couple of the water spots left over from drying after the wash did not disappear after using the wax. I went over them with a wet towel after and got them out. Curious as other waxes have removed the water spots.

Did you try the paste wax as well? Same type of stuff as the liquid (no white residue, sun or shade, etc), except it gives me the impression that it will last longer. Truth or fallacy? unknown yet.

Re: "Turtle Wax Ice" line Product Review

I may go out and get the paste wax to try. Not sure if it is the writer but there does seem to be differences between the paste and liquid.

Paste was impled to last longer.
Liquid sounds easier to put on and take off as well as mention of sun or shade. Paste did not mention this.
The liquid also said the more applications the deeper and glossier the shine. Assume the paste is the same.

Either way I love the way the Civic looks after two applications of the Liquid Ice so getting the Paste to try is something I will do. The wife also liked the results and is open to to doing the Ridgeline with Liquid Ice.

Re: "Turtle Wax Ice" line Product Review

Just got through claying (Mother's Clay Bar) and Liquid Icing. This stuff is wierd to use...it's like putting Armour All on the paint. It was easy to put on and take off...hard to see on silver once it dries. It's like there's very little left to wipe off. Before using Ice...I've been using NXT. I think the NXT beads water a little better. Only time will tell how long the Ice lasts. Ice is easier to use though...although you have to be careful...the liquid was kind of dripping down the sides of the bottle and it became slick...like it had a coat of silicone on it! Here's a couple of pics...

One thing I want to knowis why wax still beads. Beads of water from rain that dry one thevehicle lead to acid rain damage waterspots. Why does wax not sheet to minimize this?
