Re: "Turtle Wax Ice" line Product Review

Thanks FTM1, Pizza Man, and XridgeX, I feel comfortable in doing it your way XRX thats the only option that is viable and up here in Washington State where I am I dont think finding a car wash thats empty will be a problem especially today when its cloudy and cool, I did a small area this morning it is very smooth. But as someone mentioned earlier its hard to see a huge difference on silver Ridges. Thanks again

Excellent results every time and no issues.
I clay the entire vehicle at once as well. I rinse and towel off after I complete applying. Plus you will wash the truck again and dry before you wax, so it's not super critical to get off every bit of the residue.

Thanks for the all the advice I recieved here

Re: "Turtle Wax Ice" line Product Review

I did apply the Ice paste wax when it was muggy humid and threatening to rain all day yesterday in CT.

Thanks for the tip.

I will try it again on a dry day to see if it is less stickey and comes off easier.

Being that I did it wrong I wonder if my truck is not "protected" by the wax.

No other wax I ever used was slow to dry.

Is ice water based and not petroleum based like Nu-Finish?

The store I went to only had pase and not liquid.

Would liquid be easier for me?

franc944, I haven't use the Ice products, but all reports I've seen say that the paste version is better than the liquid. So looks like you've gotten the right one. ANY wax/polish you use will always be slow to dry and harder to get off in high humidity. And yes, you've still got the wax on there, even though it was difficult to work with in the humidity. If you found the Ice polish streaked your paint (due to humidity), just wax it again after you wash it next time. And I hope the air is drier for you!

You are protected, but might see some blotches in the reflection that will wear away in a couple of days. If you choose to not wait, rewax and it'll go away.

The Ice can be used on all plastic pieces, including the black trim pieces. I've done it and it looks great. It's nice to have wax on trim pieces. I assume that Nu-Finish can't do that

I hand wash the RL, so I pour 1/4 of a cup of "ICE" into my soap bucket along with a regular old Palmolive lemon dishwash ( the SUDS are great) and mix with water. I get the RL really lathered up hitting the rims too.

After she is dried, the shine alone is enough, but I come back with a little buffer I bought for 20 bucks and glaze a little "ICE" on the sponge and takes me 4 minutes to cover every inch. I come back with two Microfiber clothes and WHA-LA! There you have her...BLACK MENACE! ICE is the best! Mod's coming. Attachment 30895

Next time you wash do not use the Palmolive.

It will take the wax off. Dish soap is great for suds bad for wax.

Re: "Turtle Wax Ice" line Product Review

I am not very impressed with these products, but I am a bit of a detailing snob. I have used everything from Zaino to Klasse to Wolfgang and Pinnacle. Turtle Wax Ice is easy on and off but offers little durability. The water beads loosen up considerably after 1-2 weeks and the shine is noticeably different on dark vehicles.

Since I just bought a black Ridgeline, I will be breaking out the PC and doing a full blown detail to correct the dealer induced swirls from when it was prepped. I plan on trying some over the counter products that I could gather from local sources.

I will be using the trusty CLay Magik clay bar, Meguiars Dual Action Cleaner Polish with the PC, and 3Ms new product line synthetic sealant. I will gather some pictures and post up a review if anyone is interested.
