Here’s an alternative to clay bars.
It used to be called Speed Clay made by Diamondite. They now call it Spray Clay and Speed Sponge. It is a foam that you scrub into the surface with sponge applicator. It can be used on glass as well as painted surfaces. When you start using the product you will feel and hear a gritty dragging as it removes railhead dust, acid rain, bugs and other surface contaminants. When the surface is clean the drag is gone and the sponge glides smoothly. The price on there website seems a little high. I remember paying about $16 for an 18oz can with the special sponge. Before using make sure you shake the can and wet the sponge pad and squeeze it out slightly. A can will do many cars and if you drop the sponge pad just rinse it out good. Clay bars work well but tend to be pretty expensive and when dropped hold grit unless you fold it in or carve it out.
