Re: RTL leather care ?

I don't know this, but I've heard that the cleaner/conditioner (together) products are not nearly as good for your leather as a separate cleaner and conditioner. Anybody know this for sure? What I've heard is that the two things in combination don't do a good job with either one.

For years, I've used Lexol cleaner, followed by Lexol conditioner. And even when the cleaner isn't needed, I use the Lexol conditioner every 6 months or so. Sure do like that stuff. Been using it on my '03 Accord for over 4 years, and the leather still looks great.

That Lexol stuff is great!!! But, overall, I have not been too happy with the way the leather wears with the Honda cars. We had an 03 Pilot and by the time I traded it in the seats we not the greatest. I used Lexol, but they still ended up in rough shape.

Re: RTL leather care ?

I just used the Meguiar's leather wipes on mine today. How often do people treat their leather seats? This is the first time I've treated mine since I bought the truck last May.

Re: RTL leather care ?

The first car with leather I ever owned was a '96 Cougar that I bought used as a toy. I wiped the seats down with some foam leather cleaner/conditioner that smelled "pretty".

When I got the Accord, I started using Lexol each time I washed the car (every week or two). A bottle lasted almost a year. After a year and 8,000 miles, I couldn't see any wear at all. However, I'm EASY on vehicles and keep them immaculate.

I continue to use Lexol at the same schedule on the RL. After 8 months and 8,000 miles, I can see where the driver's left seal bolster has some wrinkles, but unless you knew it was flat when new, you'd assume it was sewn together that way.

I prefer Lexol because it seems to work (or doesn't seem to hurt) and it smells most like leather is supposed to smell without some artificial "new car" or fruit smell. Some might even say that it stinks.

Re: RTL leather care ?

I have an '03 Accord with leather interior, and I've used Lexol leather products since it was new. After about 4.5 years, the leather still looks very good. (Not new, but very good.) To me, you can't beat Lexol products. I use the Lexol cleaner every 6 months or so, but I use the Lexol conditioner every month.

I got this from a care care website......I pour on some Lexol conditoner (after cleaning), then run it in with my hand. Just like you'd run in lotion. Works great to rub the conditoner into the leather. And don't forget to use leather cleaner on the steering wheel. It accumulates lots of oil from your hands and gets pretty gunked up. Use some leather cleaner to clean it well, the follow that by the conditioner. The cleaner/conditioner products work OK, but not like a separate cleaner followed by a conditioner. Just my 2 cents....

Re: RTL leather care ?

The 303 Aerospace Protectant is one of the best products to use on leather
& Vinyl. I was using Lexol with my 94 Accord for 6yrs. When I purchase my 2000 Acura TL many of the guys on the TL/CL forums were using 303.
I had never seen the product before but did a search then got a sample from 303. I purchased a larger bottle I have been hooked ever since.
The day after we picked up the Ridgeline from the dealership I went to West Marine to get a bottle of 303 AEROSPACE PROTECTANT. It is sold at Boat & RV stores. Many on this site have been using the 303 protectant you will find many post about. 303 Products - Aerospace Protectant, High Tech Fabric Guard -* World's Leading Automotive Care Products

FTM1, I just recently got a bottle of 303 Protectant, due to all the great reports from forum members. I'm still wondering what surfaces to use it on. I have an RTL, and I'm wondering what effect it has on the leather. What purpose does it serve?? And on my dash, I don't want the shiny Amour All look, but I do want something that protects the dash. Is the 303 good for that...and does it leave a shiny look? TIA!

I use the 303 Aerospace Protectant on the leather seats the dash & around the leather part of the steering wheel. This is one best products I found for using on the steering wheel. It does not have that greasy feel after you wipe it dry. I use it on plastic/vinyl parts of the inside of the doors & trim. I use it on the rubber door seal gaskets as well. The 303 after use & wipe dry leaves a natural wet look & non greasy feel. The seats to me seem softer. I have the Ebony color int in my Acura & the 303 protectant has worked well in it for the last 8yrs. I would not use it on the tires you will be better off with the tire products. It also says you can use it on Tonneau Covers. On the Ridgeline hard OEM cover I found it did not work as good as the ICE polish. But the 303 should work very well on the softer type covers
