Re: Bed care

I gotta say, this is my first truck, and I get a little twinkle in my eye every time I get a new scratch in the bed. Xmas tree.....SCRATCH!!! Got some second-hand furniture....SCRATCH! I keep the body and interior as clean as I can (though this time of year, that gets harder and harder), but as far as the bed goes, I'm not too concerned.

Re: Bed care

I try to keep mine looking good just for resale value. Before I bought my new 07 I was looking at used. My problem was all of the beds were beat to hell. My thought was if they didn't take some level of care with the bed, what was wrong with the rest of the truck.

I have carried gravel, mulch, pinestraw, wood and furniture and my bed still looks good, with minimal effort.

Re: Bed care

Well, if I ever get really bothered by the "white dusties," I'll crack out a can of Kiwi black shoe polish. Considering that yesterday I hauled 2 nice new Adirondack chairs & a boxed fire pit (Christmas gifts for Ms. Djeaux) on a 4 1/2 hr, 78 mph run from Oxford MS down to the Gulf Coast, I'm not worrying too much about the scuffs until after Christmas

Re: Bed care

When I bought my '08 RTL 6 weeks ago, it had a few 'white' scratches in the bed. I found that a little baby oil works great to hide the scratches. In fact, the first light oil I tried was olive oil. It worked great, and hid the scratches for about 4 weeks. When they reappeared, I used some baby oil on them, and they disappeared. Can't get much easier than that.

Re: Bed care

H&A sells a Bed Touch up paint also. I purchased, but have not used yet. Cost was $4.99. I purchased with other stuff so shipping was not too bad. Has anyone used this touch up? Comments?

Re: Bed care

I've used the same tire shine product that I do on my tires (Teflon shine, Forever Black) but I do it a bit differently. I spray it on, but I'm flexible enough to get in the bed as I'm doing so and work backwards.

As for the scuffs (white marks) I just buff them out using a bit of elbow polish.

Doesn't the baby oil attract more dust and dirt?

There are a few threads on this... search for "Line-X" and/or "Rhino"
