Re: Clayed the Ridgeline today

I have read many times on this forum: "do not trust anyone else to change your oil, etc." Left our 2008 Honda Civic at the dealership to fix a small dent in the roof. The PDR technician did a great job.

But the detailer found a couple of scratches in the clear coat. He buffed the long one out without any problem. The small one on the rear of the door gave him some problem and he burned through the clearcoat and into the paint. We had to get a paint touch-up on a brand new car we never even had the opportunity to drive. Ouch!

Still love my Dark Cherry Pearl Ridgeline.

Brad

Socbum, I have used Griot's "Speed Shine", and it's probably the best detailer I've ever used. (It's 5% carnauba wax.) BUT, I've used several detailers (Mother's, Meguiar's, Turtle Wax, etc.) with the Griot's clay, and haven't seen any big difference when claying. My advice is to use the cheapest detailer you can buy (decent brand). Just don't let the clay get dry. Use plenty of detailer, no matter what brand you use. I'm sure it goes without saying, but use the clay in the shade....not in the sun. Please post your experiences. I'd love to know what you think.

Re: Clayed the Ridgeline today

Tom -- I plan on the big clay job this weekend, the clay and other goodies from Griot's are being delivered today -- Thanks for the advice on keeping it in the shade.

Griots also has an applicator that can be used to hold the clay. It looks like a round sponge with a hole in the middle to hold the clay.

Griot's Clay Pad & Holder Kit

I will let you know how it works. I plan on doing my truck and my daughters 03 mustang as a suprise.

Hopefully my arms will work on Monday
