5 Star Shine & Clay Bar

As we've all seen on these posts, there is a ton of products out there and there are a ton of opinions about those products as well. I certainly am no different. I haven't seen too many threads on 5 Star Shine, so I thought I'd share my experience.

I have, like many others here looked for that ultimate product in many different areas of car care. I have gone through many types of waxes etc. to protect my paint. Years ago, I came across 5 Star Shine on the web and began my research. I also asked my brother-in-law who's owned a detailing business for about 10 years to review the literature on the product. He agreed that the system utilized in this product is one he's heard about, seen and discussed with professionals regarding paint protection. He said the same thing the literature was saying; that it is not just a wax, it's more of a system to work with the molecular structure of the paint.

Based on my research and his feedback, I ordered some in 2003 for my dark brown VW Passat, took the time to clay the vehicle as suggested, then went about performing the several step application process. When I was complete, I was amazed at the deep deep shine I was able to attain from this product. I wondered if it would last as they said? Well, it continued to work through a few years just like it said. I live in Iowa with rain, hot sun, salt and cold temps (the full range). I constantly got comments from people about how nice it looked and washing it was just as easy as advertised.

So.......when I sold the Passat and got a new 08 Dark Cherry Pearl Ridge, I thought I'd try it again. My son and I spent a large part of Saturday washing, claying, washing again, then applying the 5 Star Shine product process. Again, I was amazed with the results and couldn't be happier. It costs more than wax initially, but the fact that it lasts for years with no other waxing needed is a winner for me. I really like the product. Again, it's very differnt from waxing and is more of a chemical process involved in this "paint protection" system. You can read about it at their link.

Never Wax Your Car Again! - 5 Star Shine

If you have any thoughts about using this product or questions, I'd be glad to try and answer. I guess you can say I'm a believer after the second vehicle, but I won't try and sell you on it. It works for me. That's all. I've not read or heard of any negative results from people on this product.

Interesting! Do you have pics of your Ridge with it applied?... or even a before and after?

I'll be reading up on this. Thanks for the info!

Re: 5 Star Shine & Clay Bar

I'm sorry to say I don't have pics. I was going to take a pic, but it was too dark by the time I finished Sunday. I also didn't think the pic would show the level of detail that my naked eye can see, so I didn't make it a priority, but I'll try. It was also raining today, so I couldn't take the pic. I sure am lovin the smooth feel. Gosh, each time I try to close the door, it just slips out of my hand.

No sweat man... just wondering. I am getting very interested in this - as I'm getting older, getting lazy, falling apart, getting lazy, working more, getting lazy, have a 5 year old daughter, getting lazy... you get the idea.

Re: 5 Star Shine & Clay Bar

Being someone who likes to research things, I searched other forums to see what users are saying about this product. I did find a few people who had not tried it saying it was to expensive but I ran across enough people who actually swore by this stuff that I decided to give it a try. I also ran across a DIY website that had a coupon code for this product. The site is:

ptdoityourself.net - PT DIY Club - Discounts On Parts and Accessories

I went to this site and linked to 5 star shine from there. I then added the product to my shopping cart, and proceeded to checkout. Here is where you will find a place to type in a coupon code. If you type in 10off (just like I have typed it) in the coupon code field, you will receive $10 off the overall price. Out the door, I paid, $66.90 which is still a lot of money, but hey if it works as good as everyone is saying, I'll be a happy camper.

Thanks Peacefulone for the tip.

My tip of the day, whenever ordering over the INTERNET and you see a spot for a coupon code, always search the Internet and try to find a coupon code for the product. It adds up!

Excellent thought, Bruce! There are some great websites out there for finding promotional codes. Here's one that typically has current codes.... Coupon Codes, Promotional Codes and Discounts at CurrentCodes.com

I went with the 15off, on the deluxe kit. After Checking out, on my receipt is says"coupon is Expired".
Paid 107.95
Hope there is enough for one truck and one car.

Yea I found the 15off also but the website wouldn't even acknowledge that I typed it in so I went with the 10off. Of course I tried other combinations of 20off, and 30off, etc... But only the 10off worked - says it right on the invoice. Only down side is that the information came from a PT Cruiser owners site (sorry guys - not my cup of tea). Oh well - still saved 10 bucks!

Supposable what you purchased is only good for one vehicle. Now - which one will you choose.....

Good Luck

Each kit covers 250 square feet
The Ridgeline and maybe the top of the car.
