Minor Scratch Removal

Hi...The dealer washed my truck yesterday. During the wash process, my sattelite radio antenna moved and put some minor surface scratches on the roof of the truck. Any advice on how to remove them? Thanks very much.....Peter

Re: Minor Scratch Removal

Just don't use rubbing compound. I use Turtlewax Polishing cream, or Turtlewax Scratch remover, and what works really nice is a wax called ColorMatch which hides deeper scratches really well. With any polish or cream you do not want to put any elbow grease into the scratch. Soft gentle circular motions, repeat as required until the scratch fades... Just my 2 cents...

Shouldn't the DEALER take care of this since they did it??

I agree with RTL44. Your dealer should take care of it, Pfarinelli. Don't let the damage your RL and then blow you off. Take it down, show them where the scratches are and tell them you want it back to the way it was before they screwed it up!

Thanks for the advice. I used the turtle wax stuff with a microfiber applicator and terry cloth towel to remove. The scratches are gone. The dealer was going to take care of it, I didnt want to leave the truck over night. Thanks again for your help.

Delaer probably would have grabbed a rotary and a dirty wool pad and put holograms all over it anyway - good choice to take care of it yourself.

Re: Minor Scratch Removal

I like using the scratch removal waxes. Color match sounds good. I'll give that a try.

*Dealers always want to keep your car for an extended period of time so you'll never actually want to leave it (YES, I'm very cynical). I have never got a dealer to make a real appointment for work. So much for customer service. We should be able to make an appointment and be told how long it will take, then given a ride or loaner. Stealers?
