  1. Setting an in/lb torque wrench for 13ft/lb pressure for G1,, 2006 ridgeline

    First Generation Ridgeline (1G 2006-2014)
It wouldn’t be surprising in the least if a click-type torque wrench was off by 8-15% on its own, particularly near either end of the scale.
  2. Ignition Coil + Spark Plug Exploded, Threads damaged...What do I do now?

    1G Problems & Issues
What is the mechanism by which off-spec internal spark plug electrical resistance causes the threads in the cylinder head casting to fail?
  3. Oil Leak

    1G Problems & Issues
If you have a leak that’s from deposit build-up or maybe a bit of age and inflexibility, try Auto-RX (dot com). It’s designed and built for that, and it does what it’s supposed to do. the two products you mentioned are not.
  4. Dodge more reliable than Honda

  5. Dodge more reliable than Honda

    Other Cars, Trucks and Bikes
CR’s ratings are based significantly on owner reports & experiences.
  6. Service Records from dealer

    First Generation Ridgeline (1G 2006-2014)
I see the owners section on To be clear: I’ve never seen previous owners’ service records show up on a manufacturer’s owner page when I buy a used car. I was using that as an example of the interconnection of the national system.
  7. Service Records from dealer

    First Generation Ridgeline (1G 2006-2014)
What you experienced is due to the fact that not all dealerships report to Carfax, and even those that do don’t necessarily provide any detail. A Honda dealership should enter service info in Honda’s national system. That means another Honda dealer would be able to see it. This seems to be the...
  8. Transfer case?

    1G Problems & Issues
I agree. Replacing halfshafts to fix something that gets much worse after the work does not point a person to the transfer case. It sort of sounds to me like the shop isn’t familiar with how the Ridgeline’s AWD system works, so they’re maybe thinking of a noise they’d hear on standard American...
  9. First gen brake bleeding dos and don'ts- and a surviving mystery........

    1G Problems & Issues
My Ridgeline has never had what I’d call a hard brake pedal; not even when it was brand new. I have had an extra soft and low pedal before, when I accidentally pulled the master cylinder dry. Straightforward 2-person flushing cleared that right up, though. Not sure what you may be experiencing...
  10. Replacement spark plugs

1G Under The Hood / Performance
There’s a huge amount of either fake or likely ‘seconds’ or defective EVERYTHING on flea bay. I like to buy from my dealer and my local auto parts store.
  11. Video: Winter vs other tire types

    2G Tires, Wheels & Suspension
I bought a set of Nokian Hakkapeliitta Q tires for a Subaru Legacy sedan years ago. Where I lived then we got freezing rain and some snow all winter. The Qs were an ice-focused winter tire, and they were stunningly good in those conditions. They’re expensive, but if a person has a need for a...
  12. Thermostat discussion

1G Under The Hood / Performance
I'd like to talk about thermostats. I think I might need to update my understanding of thermostats are labeled these days. There's a thread under active discussion at the time I write this about timing belt replacement, and the topic of the thermostat came up. Here's the piece that piqued my...
  13. Too soon to drain/refill coolant at low miles, high years?

1G Under The Hood / Performance
Can we talk about this topic? I'll start another thread. I think I need to update my understanding of how thermostats are labeled these days.
  14. 911 HELP! Transmission Overfilled

    1G Problems & Issues
Agreed. It’s a doozy of a scattered thread.
  15. 2014- Drive shaft / Propeller Shaft Damaged- Recommendations for replacement

    1G Problems & Issues
Options I’d explore: —Junkyard part —Driveline company to repair I’ve had LOTS of drivelines repaired, lengthened, shortened, rebuilt, or partially replaced by experienced driveline shops. They’re good at what they do, and there’s no way there aren’t at least a couple to several in the DFW area.
