I picked up a pair of the $15 Harbor Freight load bars, but didn’t want to store them in the bed. I found a pair of them can be spread stacked in the trunk where they won’t shift and also won’t take up space or limit the majority of trunk access. The trunk just closes with them like this:

i just use one of these 2-in-1 Support/Cargo Bar I had to put a rivet into it to keep it from extending/retracting as the lock ring isn't super secure., but it works fine for groceries
