I am the original owner of my Ridge. It now has 170,000 miles and still doesn't use a drop of oil between changes because I have always used Mobil 1 full synthetic every 6,000 since it had about 10,000 original miles. Unfortunately, I just had a MAJOR catastrophic failure when both the tranny and the radiator went. I believe this to be a design flaw in an otherwise flawless vehicle. There was absolutely no warning that there was a problem until the engine temperature began to rise quickly soon followed by transmission complete failure. I had it towed to my favorite service center who told me that the transmission oil cooler tube (located INSIDE the radiator) cracked causing an intermixing of coolant and transmission failure which caused the immediate transmission failure due to the contaminated fluid. In doing some research I found that mine is not a unique problem as I read many accounts of the issue with Ridgeline, Pilot and Odyssey vehicles. Sadly, Honda will not stand behind this issue and I have resorted to buying a used transmission and new radiator. Repair cost by dealer was over $5,000 and more than the vehicle is worth!! Comments welcomed.
