Got in yesterday, turned the key, and nothing. The lights were all on, but no starter. I've had a couple issues the past week, but thought it might be battery related. I called AAA while my wife tried calling Honda Care, whoever helped up first won. Honda Care came through for us, towed it to the nearest dealer, all for free.

Dealership called later, said it would be over $600! We then had a disagreement over my full, extended warranty. They said it expired earlier this year, but it doesn't expire until '17. They called back later, said I was right and it'd be taken care of.

I don't even have 75k miles on it. Pretty disappointed in it failing this early.

Trust me, I've been thinking about whether they were trying to scam me or not. I didn't buy it new, I bought it CPO from another dealership. I would like to think they were just being lazy and didn't check into it properly. But, I wouldn't put it past them, they don't have the best service rating and I know they'd rather have my cash than to wait to be reimbursed.

Normally I don't do extended warranties, but when we were signing the papers, they offered a full, extended warranty for a little over $1k. If we got it, they'd drop the interest rate from 3.65 (or something like that) to 1.9. Quick math told us that we'd save money by spending money. So far I've had a new O2 sensor installed, a new starter and a free tow to the dealership, all for free.

Please tell what issues you noticed in the lead up to the failure, that you say you were attributing to a bad battery.
Three weeks ago I replaced the original battery, whenever I've taken the truck in somewhere and they do a complimentary battery scan, they've told me it was getting bad. The weather is starting to dip here and it was slow to crank in the morning. I then had no problem, until...

In the past week, one moment it would start fine, then just a little later it would barely crank. Didn't matter if it was morning or not. I started to think I got a defective battery or my alternator was going bad. I checked the battery connections, no problem there. Whenever it wouldn't crank, everything would still come on in the car; dash lights, radio, door/dome lights. I don't think I've ever had to replace a starter in any car I've owned, so I didn't know what to look for. Hence the thought it may be battery issues.
